The full cast of Apple’s early morning TV comedy begins to take shape after the signing of the project by two other actors. Billy Crudup and Gugu Mbatha-Raw joined the cast of the untitled Apple TV series, which lists Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston as executive producers and stars of the series.
Earlier this week, it was revealed that Steve Carell had joined the cast of the series to play one of the leading male presenters. Kerry Ehrin has been chosen to act as a showrunner with Mimi Leder as a director and producer.
Crudup, best known for his role in Almost known and Big fish, was chosen as Cory Ellison, president of the network news division, according to a report by Variety. Mbatha-Raw, who appeared in Disney’s The beauty and the Beast live-action movie, will portray Hannah Shoenfeld, a “talented and charming” book runner for the morning news.
The morning news project is more advanced in production than most of Apple’s other TV shows. More than 20 television shows are currently in development and are associated with big names such as Steven Spielberg, Octavia Spencer, Kevin Durrant, Ronald D. Moore, Night Shyamalan, Damien Chazelle and more.
Apple has not yet revealed the release date of its television shows.
