The JBL JR 460NC is a pair of over-the-ear headphones made just for kids. It lets them listen to their favourite music or watch all their TicTok videos online. They are currently for sale on Amazon for $64.95 and come in blue, pink, and white. They were made for kids who are just starting to like streaming music, YouTube, or online games. The adult range of headphones from JBL are strong and easy to use, and they still have the great sound quality that the brand is known for.
At first glance, these headphones look like any other JBL pair. Small changes were made to their design to make it easier to use and make it as user-friendly as possible. The left and right ear cups are clearly marked, and the button layout has been simplified. There is a power button for power/Bluetooth control, a universal Pause/Play/Skip command button, and an icon of a smiley face next to the active noise cancelling button. They’re easy to put on and feel like they could be worn for hours.
Most importantly, though, they were made to be very durable and flexible. Kids are very good at breaking things, so JBL didn’t make these indestructible. Instead, they made them light and smooth so that if they did break, the danger would be lessened. The JBL JR 460 NC sounds as good as you would expect from a brand called JBL. JBL has put in a safety feature at 85dB, which means that even at the highest volume, these headphones will never hurt your ears or get too loud. This keeps the sound clear and easy to understand.
Due to the way the sound is compressed, some apps like Tic Tok can have harsh high frequencies. JBL has thought about this as a way to change the EQ, and it sounds great.
The microphone has a clear signal, and when we tested it, we could hear every word recorded when using a voice memo app or taking a call with the headphone. This makes it easy to understand what your child says on the call. The JR 460 NC headphones come in white with grey and orange accents. They have large earpads on the circumaural earcups.
The underside of the headband is also well padded, and the fit should be secure and comfortable even for long listening sessions. The 32mm drivers inside the headphones have a frequency range of 20Hz–20kHz and a maximum volume of 85dB. That’s louder than some of the headphones we test with volume limits, but it’s still within the limits set by the World Health Organization (WHO). Also, you can’t turn off the volume limit, which isn’t always the case with headphones made for kids.
