The Samsung Smart Monitor M7 S43BM70 is a 4k intelligent monitor that replaces the Samsung 43M70A. Unlike most monitors, this one features a built-in smart interface with a multitude of streaming apps, allowing you to stream video directly to the display like you would on a television. Because of this, it is essentially a 43-inch television without a tuner but with monitor-like capabilities, such as ergonomic adjustments on the stand.
It boasts built-in compatibility for the Bixby or Alexa voice assistants, which you can manage using either the mic on the bundled remote or the mic on the display. There are a few more variants in Samsung’s Smart Monitor portfolio, such as the Samsung Smart Monitor M8 S32BM80, which is available in a 32-inch screen size and offers a variety of inputs. One of the best characteristics of the M7 is its connection.
If you have a compatible Samsung smartphone or tablet, you can utilize DeX to launch a desktop environment wirelessly on the M7 from your mobile device. When you combine this with Bluetooth peripherals, you can begin working immediately. The M7 wirelessly extends displays from Windows, iOS, and Android devices, supports screen mirroring and Apple AirPlay 2, and has dual-band 802.11ac wireless.
It is effective at providing a cable-free, multi-display environment, and the Samsung operated consistently when tested with various wireless networking methods. Likewise, wired communication is acceptable. The M7 contains three full-size USB 2.0 connections, a USB-C connector that supports DisplayPort, and a USB-C port that offers 65W of power, which is sufficient for a laptop. There are also two HDMI ports.
Also incorporated are automatic lighting adjustment and source switching. The screen underlying these features is a 32-inch VA display with a 4K resolution, providing you with sharp graphics and ample screen real estate for detailed work and multitasking. At factory settings, the Samsung’s contrast ratio was 3,233:1, which is fantastic and contributes to an abundance of colour and richness.
The maximum luminance of 268cd/m2 is suitable for an office setting, and the black point of 0.06cd/m2 is exceptional, creating admirable depth in deeper places. The Samsung Smart Monitor M7 is an excellent all-purpose display that can be used as a small-form-factor television and a home office monitor with ease.
Featuring a tiny, easy-to-setup design, a helpful TV remote, and all the benefits of Samsung’s Tizen TV platform, it is the ideal option for those with limited space or those seeking a device for their home office or spare bedroom. The sole drawback is that it lacks a few crucial features that would deter creatives and gamers, most notably its decidedly average colour gamut coverage and its 60Hz refresh rate.
