Acer Swift Go 14 review (2023) comes with beautiful OLED display

an affordable notebook with excellent performance and an OLED display.

The Acer Swift Go 14 is a great laptop that stands out from the rest. Some laptops rely on good looks or low prices, but the Swift Go 14 is a great value because it has a high-end CPU and an OLED screen at an affordable price. The Lenovo Yoga 9i Gen 8 is the best in terms of looks and standout features, but the Swift Go 14 is the best in terms of performance and an OLED screen without breaking the bank. Even though the review unit had a small problem with color accuracy, the Swift Go 14 is a good choice for people on a budget who want a reliable laptop.

Acer Swift Go 14: Description

The Acer Swift Go 14’s performance is really impressive. It beats even more expensive competitors, like the MacBook Pro M2, in many ways. Even more surprising is that you can get this great laptop for only $1,049. This makes it an unbeatable deal. But the Swift Go 14’s 2,880 x 1,800-pixel OLED screen is what really makes it stand out. It has bright, mesmerizing images that make other devices look dull. You feel like you’re in a fascinating world, like Middle-Earth, when you look at the screen. Also, the brightness of the OLED screen is surprisingly high, which makes it even better to watch.

Acer Swift Go 14: Design

Acer swift go 14 review

The Swift Go 14 has a smooth and sleek silver aluminum exterior that drew me in right away with its elegant simplicity. On top of the simple lid is a beautiful, empty space with an alluringly reflective Acer logo in the middle. we can run my fingers across the surface and enjoy its lovely texture. When you lift the lid, you’ll see a beautiful 16:10 screen with a 90% screen-to-body bezel ratio that makes the display pop out front and center, along with a large keyboard that doesn’t waste much of the deck’s space. We don’t like the four stickers that are stuck near the touchpad, but you can always take them off.

The Swift Go 14 is one of my favorites because the bottom of the lid is a bit longer than the base. This makes the laptop stand up when you open it. This also means that the top of the deck curves down and covers some of the lower bezel, making the screen look even bigger than it would normally.

The Swift Go 14 is 12.3 by 8.6 by 0.6 inches and weighs 2.9 pounds. This makes it smaller and lighter than the Lenovo Slim Pro 7 (3.5 pounds, 12.8 x 8.9 x 0.6 inches) but bigger and lighter than the Apple MacBook Pro M2 (12 x 8.4 x 0.6 inches, 3 pounds). The LG Gram 16 (2.5 pounds, 14 x 9.5 x 0.66 inches) is the lightest of the group, but it is also the biggest.

Acer Swift Go 14: Display

Acer swift go 14 review

Except for a few, my colorimeter wouldn’t measure the contrast ratio on OLED displays that were outside of certain parameters. In terms of brightness, color gamut coverage, color accuracy, and contrast, most are very close. The Swift Go 14 did well in most of the tests. It has great brightness at 523 nits, a wide color gamut at 97% of Adobe RGB and 100% of DCI-P3, and a very high contrast at 36,170:1.

The DeltaE score for color accuracy, however, was 5.96, which was not good. Every other OLED display we have tested has scored close to 1.0 or less, which is where the human eye can’t tell the difference. Acer says that other Swift Go 14 units it has tested have scored between 2.1 and 2.5, which is high for an OLED display but still within an acceptable range. So, it’s likely that the factory didn’t do a good job of calibrating my review unit.

We wouldn’t mark down the display because of this one unit, but again, its color accuracy is not as good as other OLED displays we have tested. The Swift Edge OLED from Acer got a score of 1.44, and the Swift 3 OLED got a score of 1.31, so it’s not like Acer usually chooses panels with less accuracy than the class average. It’s worth thinking about, but I’m pretty sure this review unit is just broken.

The sound was fine, and there were two speakers on each side of the keyboard that faced up. The volume and clarity were good enough for casual streaming, but the lack of bass will make you want to put on a pair of headphones for action-packed content.

Keyboard and Touchpad

The keyboard on the Acer Swift Go 14 is well-designed and makes it easy to type. The keys move well and respond quickly, making it easy to type for long periods of time. The layout is standard, and the number pad is a nice addition for getting things done. In general, the keyboard works well and can be used every day.The Swift Go 14’s touchpad is large and easy to use.

It works with gestures from more than one touch, making it easy to move around and control. The surface is smooth and accurate, making it easy to do things like scrolling, zooming, and swiping. The touchpad works well and improves how the laptop is used as a whole.

Acer Swift Go 14: Audio Quality

The Swift Go 14’s bottom-firing speakers do a decent job of putting out full, clear sound, but they were never loud or powerful enough to make an impression. We recommend the best bluetooth speakers or the best headphones if you want to hear great sound. The Rings of Power, and while the dialogue and music were clear and loud enough, we couldn’t help but think how much better the experience would be if I plugged in a headphone or an external speaker.

“The Great Elsewhere” by Owen Pallett was the first song we listened to, and we liked how the Swift Go 14 played the opening electric piano keys, atmospheric glitch noises, and subtle empty rings that make the song feel so mysterious. But when the low drums’ percussion was added to the mix, it was almost completely covered by the rest of the sound. Also, it would be nice if the speakers could get a little louder, because some of my favorite parts of this song got lost in the background.

Then we listened to “The New Year” by Death Cab for Cutie, and we thought the Swift Go 14 did a better job with this song overall. With a percussion and guitar-heavy opening that immediately sets the bittersweet tone for the rest of the track, we could feel myself falling into the throes of this beautiful song, thanks to a full and fairly loud sound that didn’t lose track of any of its key instruments. Even then, it’s still not quite loud enough.

Acer Swift Go 14: Performance

A discrete GPU is used to speed up different processes in creative applications like Adobe’s suite. The Swift Go 14 sticks with Intel’s built-in Iris Xe graphics and comes with a 45-watt Intel Core i7-13700H processor that runs quickly. As such, it’s clear that it’s meant for people who want to get a lot done, and for those people, it works very well. Keep in mind that the Swift Go 14 will work well with creative apps that don’t use the GPU.

Most of our tests show that the Swift Go 14 is a quick laptop. The 14-core (six Performance cores at 4.7GHz and eight Efficient cores at 3.5GHz) and 20-thread CPU did well against AMD’s latest, including the Ryzen 7 7735HS, an 8-core/16-thread CPU that runs at up to 4.75GHz and uses 35 to 54 watts. The Samsung Galaxy Book3 Ultra was a bit faster than the Acer, but not by much.

The PCMark 10 full suite of tests is the only benchmark where the Swift Go 14 didn’t do as well as it should have. So, the Swift Go 14 is a fast machine for people who need to get a lot done. It didn’t do anything special on the 3DMark Time Spy test, so it’s not a better gaming laptop than any other Iris Xe machine.

Acer Swift Go 14: Battery Life

Acer swift go 14 review

When paired with an H-series CPU, the 65Wh battery pack can last for 11 hours and 29 minutes of Web browsing or 10 hours of video playback, which is just incredible. Now, we run the battery tests with the Windows Better performance setting on, the screen brightness set to 120 nits, and all programs except the one we’re using to test the notebook turned off.

Final Words

When we looked at the performance numbers for the Acer Swift Go 14, we was sure it would be a high-end laptop for people who were willing to spend a lot of money. Imagine how shocked we was when we first saw how much it cost. How can it only cost $1,049 when its screen is amazing and it has great productivity scores? weq couldn’t believe that such a good laptop could cost so little.

But its low price comes with some problems, like a hot bottom and a battery life that isn’t as good as our averages. These problems aren’t that big compared to what Acer’s latest does, but if you want something that lasts longer, the LG Gram 16 with its 13-hour battery life is a good choice. The Swift Go 14 is still one of the best laptops of 2023 in every other way.
