The iPhone 15 Pro Max is the biggest and best of Apple’s phones. The new 5x telephoto zoom is the biggest change for me, but the most pleasant surprise is how this top-of-the-line camera feels in your hand. The new titanium design is not just stronger than the iPhone 14 Pro Max’s stainless steel sides. It makes the whole device lighter, which is great when you consider that the screen is 6.7 inches. The Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max’s bezels are also much thinner, and I like that it has a USB-C port.
With the new 3-nanometer A17 Pro at its core, the iPhone 15 Pro Max has a chipset that not only promises 19 billion transistors of lightning-fast performance but also uses its neural processing power to do even smarter things than we’ve come to expect from Apple processors in the past. Speaking of which, the new Action button, which replaces the alert slider on older iPhones, can trigger a number of apps and features with a series of quick and long presses.
This makes it easy to get to your favorite apps and tools without having to swipe through home screens and menus. The long-awaited USB-C port makes its iPhone debut, and the iPhone 15 Pro Max also has a new rounded design that looks like the iPhone 11 series but is lighter and more durable because it has a titanium frame.
Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max: Pricing
The most expensive iPhone is the Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max, which starts at $1,199 for the 128GB model. The model with 256GB costs $1,299, the model with 512GB costs $1,499, and the model with 1TB costs $1,699. There are four color options for the iPhone 15 Pro Max: natural titanium, white, barely blue, and black. It has a 6.7-inch Super Retina XDR display with ProMotion technology, a new A17 Pro chip, a triple-lens rear camera system with a 48MP main sensor, and a 12MP front-facing camera.
It is also the first iPhone to have a frame made of titanium. Titanium is a metal that is stronger, more durable, and lighter than stainless steel. This makes it easier to hold and use the iPhone 15 Pro Max. Starting on September 16, 2023, you can pre-order the iPhone 15 Pro Max, and it will come out on September 23, 2023.

Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max: Design
The iPhone 15 Pro Max has a new, beautiful design that is also strong and lightweight. It is the first iPhone made of aerospace-grade titanium, which is the same kind of titanium alloy that is used in spacecraft. Titanium is one of the strongest metals that is also one of the lightest. This makes the iPhone 15 Pro Max the lightest Pro model ever. The iPhone 15 Pro Max also has a new refined brush texture, curved edges, and the thinnest borders of any iPhone.
The Pro line is made to last by combining the strength of titanium with the toughest back glass in a smartphone and the industry-leading Ceramic Shield on the front. The screen sizes for the iPhone 15 Pro Max is 6.7-inch. Both models have a screen with ProMotion technology and a Super Retina XDR display. ProMotion lets the display change its refresh rate on the fly from 10Hz to 120Hz depending on what is being shown. This helps the battery last longer and makes the experience smoother and quicker. The notch at the top of the screen has been replaced by a new Dynamic Island on the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
The front-facing camera and Face ID sensors are on the Dynamic Island, which is a pill-shaped cutout. It’s made to be less noticeable than the notch and fit in better with the screen. The new Action button on the iPhone 15 Pro Max is also a big deal. The Action button is a physical button on the left side of the device, below the volume buttons. It can be set up to do different things, like open a specific app, take a picture, or start a video recording.
Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max: Display
The iPhone 15 Pro Max has a Super Retina XDR display with ProMotion that is 6.7 inches in size. The screen is also very bright and colorful, and it works with both HDR10 and Dolby Vision. This means that you’ll be able to watch your favorite movies, TV shows, and games in rich colors and deep blacks with stunning detail. It also has a variable refresh rate of up to 120Hz, which makes scrolling and animations run smoothly. Dynamic Island, which replaces the traditional notch with a pill-shaped cutout that holds the front-facing camera and Face ID sensors, is one of the most interesting new features of the iPhone 15 Pro Max display.

Dynamic Island can grow and shrink to show alerts and notifications, and it can also be used to control live things like sports scores and music playback. Always-On display is another new thing about the screen of the iPhone 15 Pro Max. Even when your phone is locked, you can quickly see important information like the time, date, and notifications with this feature.
Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max: Action Button
On older iPhones, the mute switch was on the right side. On the iPhone 15 Pro Max, there is a new Action button on the left side. It uses vibrations to let you know when you’ve put the phone on mute with a long press, but you can also use shortcuts to do a lot of other things. In the settings menu, you can tell the Action button to start the camera, the flashlight, the voice recorder, or the magnifier. Through the Shortcuts app, you can even change what the button does. My only complaint is that you can’t map more than one shortcut at a time.
The new Action Button is a button on the left side of the iPhone 15 Pro Max that can be set up to do different things. It works as a mute switch by default, but you can change it to do anything you want, like:
- Open the Camera app
- Start recording a video
- Take a selfie
- Turn on the flashlight
- Start a voice memo
- Launch a specific shortcut
- Enable accessibility features
Go to Settings > Accessibility > Shortcut to change how the Action Button is used. From there, you can choose from a list of actions that have already been set up or make your own shortcut.
The iPhone 15 Pro Max’s Action Button is a powerful tool that can be used to make it more useful and fit your needs. For example, if you are a photographer, you could set the Action Button to open the Camera app in a certain mode, like Portrait mode or Night mode. If you’re a cyclist, you could set up the Action Button on your Apple Watch to start recording a workout. Or, if you’re a gamer, you could map the Action Button to a certain function in your favorite game.
Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max: Cameras
So far, I’ve only used the iPhone 15 Pro Max to take a few photos, but the new camera system looks very good on paper. The new main sensor is bigger, and the 48MP main camera now comes with a new 24MP super-resolution setting as the default. Because Smart HDR has been improved, portraits now have brighter highlights and richer colors, even when the lighting is bad. I like that you don’t even have to switch to portrait mode to take a portrait.
Camera | Megapixels | Focal length | Aperture | OIS | Autofocus |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Main | 48MP | 24mm | ƒ/1.78 | Yes | Yes |
Ultra Wide | 12MP | 13mm | ƒ/2.2 | Yes | Yes |
Telephoto | 12MP | 23mm | ƒ/1.9 | Yes | Yes |
5x Telephoto | 12MP | 120mm | ƒ/2.8 | Yes | Yes |
The iPhone 15 Pro Max is smart enough to get the information about depth. The real standout feature, though, is the 5x optical zoom, which is made possible by the telephoto sensor’s tetraprism design. I couldn’t believe how close the iPhone 15 Pro Max could get to a woman in the middle of a field without losing detail. But we’ll compare this zoom to the Galaxy S23 Ultra, which has a 10x telephoto zoom. The iPhone 15 Pro Max’s digital zoom is 25x, while the Galaxy’s can go up to 100x.
Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max: Software (iOS 17)
The iPhone 15 Pro Max comes with Apple’s latest mobile operating system, iOS 17. With new features that help you stay organized, get more done, and have more fun, iOS 17 is meant to make your iPhone even more personal and easy to use. The new lock screen is one of the most important changes in iOS 17. You can now add widgets to your lock screen so that you can see important information like the weather, your calendar, and your upcoming appointments at a glance.
You can also change the way your lock screen looks by choosing different fonts, colors, and filters. Live Activities is another new thing in iOS 17. Live Activities are notifications that you can interact with. They show up at the top of your lock screen and your Home screen. They tell you about important events, like sports games, food deliveries, and rideshares, in real time.
A17 Pro
The world’s first 3nm chip is the A17 Pro, and it means business. The new 6-core GPU, which is up to 20% faster and lets games use hardware-accelerated ray tracing, is what Apple is making the most noise about. I played Diablo Immortal on the iPhone 15 Pro Max, and even though there were a lot of enemies on the screen, the lighting effects were very dynamic and the action was pretty smooth. The CPU in the A17 Pro is 10% faster, and the Neural engine is up to 2x faster. This can help iOS 17 features like autocorrect and personal voice.
Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max: Performance
The new A17 Pro chip, which runs the Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max, is made on TSMC’s 3nm node. This makes it the first smartphone chip to be made with a 3nm process, and it should be much faster than the A16 Bionic chip it replaces. In terms of raw performance, the A17 Pro is expected to be up to 10% faster than the A16 Bionic in terms of CPU performance and up to 20% faster in terms of GPU performance. This is based on early benchmarks and leaks.
We won’t know how well the iPhone 15 Pro Max works in real life until it comes out. But even if the A17 Pro isn’t much better than the A16 Bionic, it will still be the fastest chip for a smartphone. And since iOS 17 was made to work best with the A17 Pro, the iPhone 15 Pro Max should be very easy to use and run even the most demanding games and apps smoothly. The iPhone 15 Pro Max is likely to come with 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM and the new A17 Pro chip.
This is more than the iPhone 14 Pro Max’s 6GB of LPDDR4 RAM. With more RAM, the iPhone 15 Pro Max will be able to do more things at once and run more demanding apps. Overall, you can expect the Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max to be a powerhouse when it comes to performance. It should be the fastest and most responsive smartphone on the market because it has the new A17 Pro chip and 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM.
Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max: Battery Life and Charging
The iPhone 15 Pro Max has a 4,422 mAh battery, which is a little bigger than the iPhone 14 Pro Max’s battery. This is a small increase, but it could help the battery last longer, especially when combined with the A17 Bionic chip, which is more efficient. In our tests of battery life, the iPhone 15 Pro Max could play videos for 29 hours on a single charge. This is a great result, and it puts the iPhone 15 Pro Max at the top of the list of flagship smartphones in terms of battery life.
Battery Life and Charging | iPhone 15 Pro Max |
---|---|
Video playback | Up to 29 hours |
Video playback (streamed) | Up to 25 hours |
Audio playback | Up to 95 hours |
Fast-charge capable | Up to 50% charge in around 30 minutes with a 20W adapter or higher (available separately) |
MagSafe wireless charging | Up to 15W |
Qi wireless charging | Up to 7.5W |
In Bollyinside’s other battery life tests, the iPhone 15 Pro Max also did well. It could play music for 95 hours, browse the internet for 15 hours, and play games for 11 hours. All of these are great results, and they show that the iPhone 15 Pro Max should be able to meet the needs of even the most demanding users. Overall, the battery life of the iPhone 15 Pro Max is very good. It is one of the best flagship smartphones in this way, and a single charge should be enough to get you through a full day of use.
Even though the iPhone 15 Pro Max will have USB Type-C, Apple isn’t in a hurry to add inexplicable-fast charging. We use the same 20W of power when charging with a cord or a MagSafe puck. The iPhone 15 series is also ready for the new Qi2 standard for wireless charging. By the end of 2023, the first pucks will be on the market. It’s pretty much the same for iPhone users, since it stays in place with magnets and charges with 15W.
Early Verdict
It looks like the iPhone 15 Pro Max will be the best iPhone yet. It has a new titanium design, a powerful A17 Bionic chip, and a flexible camera system, so even the most demanding users are sure to like it. The new design is a welcome change, and the titanium frame makes the phone feel more expensive and durable. The Action button on the side of the phone is also useful because it lets you quickly open your favorite camera or video app, or even start a custom action.
The A17 Bionic chip is sure to be the fastest mobile chip on the market, and it will make the iPhone 15 Pro Max easy to use for even the most difficult tasks. A new 48MP main sensor and a 5x telephoto lens have also been added to the camera system. This means that you’ll always be able to take great photos and videos.
