Quick Info about: Best Attractions at Disney’s Magic Kingdom

Walt Disney World is huge and the Magic Kingdom is just a part of it. There is so much to see, do and experience that it can be a bit overwhelming. You might be worried about missing out on some of the best things out of all the other amazing things on offer at the parks. But fear not! We’ve rounded up the best Magic Kingdom rides and attractions so you know your stay is going to be magical. We’ll tell you everything you need to know about the Magic Kingdom attractions list and highlight the must-see attractions during your trip.

Disney World’s Magic Kingdom has been entertaining crowds since 1971 and the theme park remains as popular as ever. It’s the iconic attractions that continue to draw the crowds, making them the top must-see attractions at Disney World’s first and largest theme park. It’s a bigger, busier version of the original Disneyland, with variations on many of the same attractions and a few original additions of its own. (Oddly, though, despite a much larger footprint, it has fewer total attractions than Disneyland.) It may not be as quaint or cute as the Anaheim original, but there’s something to be said for being overwhelmed, especially when it comes to of the significantly larger castle that is located in the center of the park.

Here is the list of the best attractions at Disney’s Magic Kingdom

Haunted Mansion

This popular classic Disney ride received a facelift and a new hands-on interactive queue area. So if you haven’t visited the Haunted Mansion in a while, then it’s about time! After your journey through the new open-air queue, and finally escaping a windowless, doorless lobby, you’ll board a “doom buggy” for your journey to the other side. Don’t worry, ghosts are lively and friendly, though you may not know whether to laugh at their antics or cry in fear. Either way, you’ll be safe from the experience with a helpful hitchhiker who’s “dying” to go home with you.

The sights and sounds you may experience on this ride may be disturbing to some and The Haunted Mansion may scare young children. Parents can take advantage of Disney’s passenger change program to enjoy this attraction without additional waiting. Children under 7 years old must be accompanied by a person over 14 years old.

space mountain

The Disneyland version is better, but there’s no denying that Space Mountain is a staple of every Magic Kingdom experience. Disney’s indoor space roller coaster is a fun and amazing ride in the dark. Much of what sets travel apart is not actually a direct part of the experience. The unique architecture of the building was conceived to allow the roller coaster room to operate inside. The ride is fairly compact, something you’ll quickly notice if you don’t get distracted by the general excitement of the ride.

It is important that you are in good health to ride this roller coaster. People with high blood pressure, heart, back, or neck problems, motion sickness, or other conditions that could be aggravated by sudden movements should not travel. If you visit Disney World while pregnant, you should not ride this attraction. This ride may not be suitable for young children.

Peter Pan’s flight

Peter Pan’s Flight is inspired by Walt Disney’s animated film Peter Pan (1953), which later spawned a popular book and play of the same name. The story follows a boy who just doesn’t want to grow up. When California’s Disneyland Resort opened in 1955, Walt Disney listed Peter Pan’s Flight as one of the park’s first attractions. It is still in operation today and is as popular as ever. Disney World opened its own version of the classic attraction when the Magic Kingdom opened in 1971. Peter Pan’s Flight is located in Fantasyland and also remains one of the resort’s most popular attractions to this day.

The attraction takes you on a high-flying adventure over scenes from the Disney animated movie. Guests board a pirate galleon and then follow Peter Pan on an exciting journey across London. As he descends into Never Land, he will fly past waterfalls and volcanoes and into Pirate’s Cove. Will Peter Pan be able to defeat Captain Hook and return his companion safely to London, or will the crocodile thwart these plans?

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

Seeing the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad on the Frontierland skyline is one of the many amazing qualities of Disney World that truly makes you feel like you’ve stepped into a whole new world. It’s also a phenomenal trip! It’s an absolutely incredible fast-paced runaway mine train ride and a complete must when looking for things to do in the Magic Kingdom.

However, it’s a pretty bumpy ride (it’s a runaway train, after all!) that may not be to everyone’s taste at times. There are also elements where the train goes through dark tunnels which may put some people off. Kids can ride in this and it’s available for Fastpass (which we’d recommend doing) and is definitely worth a poke, but something to keep in mind when planning your trips.

mountain splash

Another of Disney’s “mountains,” Splash Mountain is a log flume ride that features a story from Disney’s Song of the South movie. The grand finale is a giant drop in the heather patch. This ride is perfect for one of those hot summer days when you want to get wet. This attraction includes 950,000 gallons of water, three bathrooms, and a five-story waterfall. Where you sit will determine how wet you’ll get (tip: if you’re up front, you’ll get soaked). The minimum height is 40 inches. You must use FastPass+ for this or arrive first thing in the morning.

It is a small world

Whether you love the Sherman Brothers-penned song “It’s a Small World” or think it’s the most infuriating jingle of all time, you can’t deny that it’s truly iconic. This trip is also iconic. The “happiest cruise ship ever sailed” is pure, wonderful and whimsical. What could be healthier than little animatronic dolls representing countries and cultures from around the world singing about living in peace and harmony? It may be too healthy for some, but It’s a Small World is a Disney classic that everyone should experience at least once.

pirates of the Caribbean

At the heart of Adventureland is the very definition of adventure itself, the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction! This ride is incredibly fun for all ages and heights and is definitely one of the best rides in the Magic Kingdom. Pirates of the Caribbean is really immersive, with things happening around you; the sounds and sights of pirate life fill all your senses; you can even feel a little spray from the ocean when you put some of the drops down.

Pirates of the Caribbean is also a pretty long ride and often has pretty short queues, which is the best of both worlds, really! The real Captain Jack has also been known to make an appearance inside the attraction every time he’s in the park, so you never know, you just might see him for real while touring this amazing attraction!

jungle cruise

The Jungle Cruise is a ride where guests and their guide take a journey through the waters of the Amazon River, Nile River, and Mekong River on a vintage steamboat. The entire journey takes about 10 minutes and you will avoid not only elephants, gorillas and other jungle animals, but also head hunters. What really makes the ride are the guides, who are some of the funniest cast members in all of Walt Disney World.

And before you ask, a ship on the Jungle Cruise sank and made headlines around the world, but that doesn’t change our minds about this classic Disney ride. There are a number of photos and videos on the internet, so just google for more information. And as you may have also heard, Disney Imagineers has made some changes to the original Jungle Cruise version. But what hasn’t changed are the lions eating the zebra.

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

The iconic Thunder Mountain Railroad takes you on a journey into mining country. You’ll want to make sure you hold on tight around those tight turns. Another classic for good reason is Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in Frontierland. There’s a reason this is the ride that often appears in so many Disney World commercials! It’s exciting yet easily accessible to young and old alike, it’s fast and silly, and overall a fun experience all the way around. It is definitely “the wildest ride in nature” as it so boastfully claims, reaching speeds of up to 36 miles per hour while its highest drop is 35 feet! You’ll traverse caverns, ravines, and even the ribcage of a DINOSAUR! Why it’s there, we’re not really sure.

Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room

This charming Adventureland show is a bit of an acquired taste. Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room features magical birds, flora, fauna and tiki statues that come to life and sing one of the greatest earworms of all time. Really. If you think “It’s a Small World” will get stuck in your head, you haven’t heard “The Tiki, Tiki, Tiki Room.” Like the other Disney audio-animatronic shows, this attraction is pure charm and a great way to beat the crowds.
