When you write on it with the Heart of Metal Pen 2, which is heavy and looks like a fountain pen, it feels more like a gel pen than like other E Ink tablets, which feel slightly scratchy. In fact, out of all the tablets I tried, writing on the Supernote X was one of the best.

The Supernote X can read many different file types, such as PDF, ePUB, Word (.doc), PNG, and JPG. This gives you a lot more options for what you can put on it. I wanted to see if I could use it almost like a digital bullet journal, and that wasn’t hard to do. There are built-in page templates, but I was also able to find daily, weekly, and monthly planner templates online, resize them, and move them to the Supernote X using Android File Transfer. In this space, you really only have two choices: the Amazon Kindle Scribe or the Kobo Elipsa 2E. The Scribe beat the Elipsa 2E because its pen and screen worked together with less delay. However, I wouldn’t recommend it for anything other than downloading an e-reading app, since the Boox still has an E Ink screen and isn’t made for games or videos.
