Best Educational Tools for 2024 January: what’s next for schools

These tools help educators and students achieve educational goals and improve learning.

From what I’ve seen, technology and education have become very connected in the last few years. Like a lot of teachers, I have a few favourite tech tools that have really changed how I teach and how I connect with my students. It’s interesting to see how technology for education keeps changing. New, creative tools are always coming out, and older ones are always getting better, adding new features that make them more useful for learning, and expanding the range of things they can be used for.

However, there are so many companies developing new products for education that it can be difficult to keep track of them all, especially when you consider how much planning and grading work teachers have to do, not to mention the time they have to spend on actual teaching.

There’s no doubt that education is evolving around the world, as are classroom teaching techniques. Gone are the days when classroom lectures were literal and boring, as today traditional means have been replaced by highly interactive teaching tools. There are countless tech tools for teachers available in the market today, slowly but surely spreading the concept of flipped classroom at a great pace. Due to the variety of tools, it is difficult to give a unified definition of online learning tools. Below we have mentioned some of the best Educational Tools.

Best Educational Tools

Mural

Best Educational Tools

For virtual collaboration, this is a real life saver. With Mural, teachers, students and other stakeholders can write on virtual sticky notes and then organize and reorganize them in real time. The best face-to-face meetings are always those where the collective expertise of the room can be visually captured, and if we can’t be in the same room with students or colleagues, Mural is the next best thing. Indeed, there is no need to go back and summarize or clean up the results of the session. The mural is the artifact. Many teachers now use Jamboard in a similar way.

Edmodo

Best Educational Tools

Edmodo is an educational tool that connects teachers and students and is equivalent to a social network. Teachers can use it to create online collaboration groups, manage and deliver classroom materials, measure student performance, and communicate with parents, among other features. Edmodo has more than 34 million users who join together to create a richer, more personalized learning process that is aligned with the capabilities of technology and the digital environment.

Kahoot

Best Educational Tools

Easily one of the best educational tools available on the market, the Kahoot is an interactive platform that transforms traditional hand raising into a game the whole class can enjoy. It can be found in thousands of classrooms for good reason. The site is ideal for distance learning or to spice up on-site activities and has recently been expanded to include pre-built content and tools for group work, assessment, and more. Kahoot is an excellent free tool for creating online learning games for teachers. The online games or quizzes can be created on any topic and in any language.

Floop

Best Educational Tools

Floop is a cloud-based website where students can receive commented feedback from teachers and peers. Students upload pictures of an assignment to the platform, and teachers place markers at the points where they wish to receive written feedback. Students can see and respond to the comments, creating a feedback loop that allows teachers to identify students’ learning patterns.

What makes this tool unique is the mechanism that allows students to directly point out places in their work where they need help, and then receive support that can also relate to specific places in the assignment. For written assignments, we’ve been able to do this with tools like the comments feature in Google Docs, but in other subjects, it has not been as easy.

Duolingo

Best Educational Tools

If language learning is the part of what you want students to do, consider Duolingo. You can give them just few minutes a day to learn one of more than 30 languages with this learning tool. Duolingo can also help you communicate with parents if you are in a multilingual community. The bite-sized lessons are great for holding children’s attention or building into a busy lesson plan. It offers personalized learning that uses AI and linguistics to effectively teach language wherever the learner starts. Currently, this is one of the best educational tools that you can get right now.

Wakelet

Best Educational Tools

As teachers, you are constantly training in your subject. When you prepare course content, especially for high school, you need up-to-date resources and information. It has probably happened to you, too, that you found the perfect tidbit a few weeks ago and cannot remember where it is in your notes. Wakelet is an EdTech tool that can help you.

Think of it as a kind of Pinterest for education, where you can store the information you are researching in an organized way. When you need it, you can find it. You can also integrate Wakelet into a flipped classroom to create collaborative spaces where students can share their findings with groups. Overall, it is one of the best educational tools that you can consider.

Panopto

Best Educational Tools

Of all the tech tools for teachers and students we have encountered so far, this one certainly makes an impression. Panopto is one of the most widely used video capture devices, used in several hundred schools and universities around the world. With this recorder, all kinds of lectures and presentations can not only be recorded, but also reviewed at a later date. Interestingly, there is a feature to also send students a live feed of the recorded lectures. So, if you want one of the best educational tools , we highly recommend this one.

Screencastify

Best Educational Tools

Today’s students are highly motivated by video. It is the way they view and consume their favorite media, and it is often necessary in the classroom for more effective teaching. Screencastify gives you the ability to create educational videos that you can send to your students to make the overall lesson more engaging. These educational tools also help with blended, hybrid and flipped lessons, allowing teachers to include video where they need it in the classroom. You can explain everything in your lesson using videos that students watch at home, and then spend actual class time on one-on-one instruction to help them master the concept.

Sutori

Best Educational Tools

With Sutori, anyone can create a multimedia story that looks like a timeline, with an emphasis on arranging information in an engaging, interactive format for storytelling. It’s also a useful format because it illustrates relationships between concepts more intuitively than, say, a slide deck. It also has many uses: teachers can use pre-made stories in their lesson plans, or they can create their own stories on the fly to use as teaching tools or learning aids. In addition, stories can even be assigned as projects or homework, which can be a welcome alternative to an essay assignment.

Remind

Best Educational Tools

Remind is an education-focused team communication app. It allows you to send two-way text messages to students or parents wherever they are. You can use this tool to share lesson updates, assess students, make sure they stay on top of video content or communicate with parents.

With Remind, you get the benefits of text messaging without having to share your personal number with students and families. Text messages are sent in real time so you can keep your family and students informed. It also helps you reach parents instead of relying on your students to remember to relay announcements. Thus, this is one of the best educational tools available right now.
