Quick list of Best Hardware Calibration Monitors

If your creative work requires accurate colors, one of the best monitor calibration tools is essential. Whether it’s for photo editing, video editing, graphic design, illustration, or any other form of digital art or design, you want to be sure that the colors you see on your monitor are true to life. There are downloadable apps that claim to be able to calibrate monitors, but unfortunately they can’t compete with the best monitor calibration tools that involve physical hardware actually looking at your screen. To ensure that your computer monitor reproduces colors correctly, you should calibrate the brightness, contrast, and color regularly. The most accurate way to do this is with a monitor calibrator.

By holding a monitor calibrator (technical name is colorimeter) to your screen and pointing a selection of colors at it, you can identify any discrepancies and program your computer to compensate for your monitor’s color inaccuracy. We go into more detail on this topic in the Questions section at the end of this guide. The bottom line, though, is that while the colors on your monitor look good, they’re not necessarily accurate. That is, if you don’t calibrate your monitor, you can easily end up oversaturating images or choosing colors that look very different on a customer’s screen or in print. And it’s also not enough to calibrate your screen once and then forget about it. Display output fluctuates over time, so calibration should be done at least every few months.

AOC C32G2ZE 32″ Frameless Curved Gaming Monitor

The C32G2ZE’s On Screen Display (OSD) is the usual AOC ribbon style menu that appears at the bottom of the screen. We missed the joysticks that come with many gaming monitors and had to settle for one set of control buttons. After a while it became intuitive, but the joystick is still better and faster. The AOC C32G2ZE ships in standard mode. It has some minor weaknesses and needs to be calibrated for an optimal image.

The luminance menu is where you’ll find brightness and contrast, of course, along with seven picture modes, three gamma presets, dynamic contrast, and the three HDR emulation modes. The AOC C32G2ZE does not accept HDR signals, but tries to simulate the effect with three HDR modes: Picture, Game and Movie. Neither of these modes can really replicate the HDR effect, but it may be interesting for some.

Viotek RFI25CBA mower

The Viotek Reaper RFI25CBA looks like most gaming monitors: an all-black design with a few subtle red accents here and there. The V-shaped stand takes up a little more space on your desk, but is connected to a fully adjustable monitor stand that allows you to position or rotate the screen to suit your needs. This is a welcome change for Viotek, whose monitors in the past only had a cheap, fixed mount with little room for adjustment.

The Viotek Reaper offers a variety of connectivity options, depending on your needs. There’s a USB-C port that can be connected to a compatible PC or smartphone, or you can opt for DisplayPort (1.2) for optimal PC connectivity for the best frame rates. There are two HDMI ports: one running v1.4 and one running v2.0, keeping in mind, of course, that HDMI only supports up to 120Hz.

ViewSonic VP3481a ColorPro 34-inch

The VP3481 has a simple and straightforward design. The base has a large size of 15.5 x 10.5 inches; a forked shaft extends from it (through which you can pass cables), and the box is attached to it. The base and shaft are mostly plastic, but they seem sturdy enough. With the base fully extended (height can be increased up to 5.1 inches), the monitor measures 24 x 31.9 x 11.8 inches (HWD). It can be adjusted not only in height, but also in inclination.

The top and side bezels are nearly invisible, maximizing screen space and making it ideal for a multi-monitor setup. The VP3481 has a wide range of ports. These include two HDMI 2.0 ports, a DisplayPort input, and a USB Type-C upstream port that can handle video, audio, and data while providing up to 60 watts to charge your laptop.
