Here are the best stand-up comedy movies on Hulu

Ron White: a little unprofessional

Rating: 4.7/5

Ron White is a weird guy. It was a comic for about thirty years, but it actually became known as part of the Redneck Comedy movement. Without a doubt, he was the most successful of the bunch. (Although Larry the Cable Guy did extremely well in a one-note comic.) What annoys me about White is that he is clearly brilliant with the occasional comment and word from him. But he has an addiction to naughty stuff. And that’s too bad, because while ‘blue humor’ is funny, it really diminishes a comic’s reputation. George Carlin, the greatest modern comedian, had a dirty mouth, but he was never naughty.

Old Yeller – Lives at the Borgata

Rating: 4.5/5

In his ninth comedy special, Lewis Black rips apart a country that’s going nowhere at the speed of light. “Old Yeller” weaves the turbulent history of a country so deep in ADD that it cannot be seen directly. In the onslaught of him, Mr. Black is even turning against himself and his entire generation. From cable television to Facebook, from Facebook to Twitter, Mr. Black is angry at the prison we have madly created for ourselves.

He mutters about the country’s failure to find alternative energy sources while creating mobile phones outside the realm of science fiction. He blames our nation’s leaders for ridiculously incompetent handling of social security and health care, and for failing to provide assistance at any level. As Mr. Black says, “What are you going to do when the Democrats are stupid, the Republicans are stupid, and the Tea Party doesn’t even know what day it is?”

It takes what drives us crazy and makes it funny. It’s a night of live comedy you won’t forget. . . but if it does, it’s probably because you’re taking a cholesterol-lowering medication.

Dan Soder: Gary’s son

Rating: 4.4/5

Dan Soder’s first monologue for me and it was a hit. There’s a good atmosphere in his show, it’s like he’s just telling us true stories but then in a fun way. He has good vocabulary, cute accents and different voices, some good jokes and puns, but most of all he can express them in a very funny and natural way. He is obviously a smoker and the way he presents the show he feels very relaxed on stage, with good interaction with the audience. He doesn’t feel compelled like other stand-up comedians. I’m looking forward to seeing another of his shows.

Abbott Elementary

Rating: 4.3/5

The Abbott Elementary is one of the best new shows on TV. Quinta Brunson’s script and excellent timing from the cast combine to create a fun sitcom with a lot of heart. If you don’t already have access to ABC or Hulu, I highly recommend signing up for Hulu’s 30-day free trial to take your chances with the series. The show is inspired by previous workplace comedies to deliver something uniquely relevant. If you’ve watched and enjoyed any of Michael Schur’s comedy series, including “Parks and Recreation,” “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” and “The Good Place,” you’ll definitely find something to love at Quinta Brunson’s “Abbott Elementary.”

Gary Owen I agree with myself

Rating: 4.2/5

Fearless and light-hearted stand-up comedian Gary Owen subverts any accepted and politically correct approach to family, race, gender and politics in his hilarious comedy.

dirty jokes

Rating: 4.1/5

I think DLiebert’s comment is a bit off. While it’s true that the material isn’t original and that many of these jokes are old jokes, Gottfried’s lore is so fearless and “out there” that he left me not only laughing but gasping at his boldness. He just he chases them one after another, like Henny Youngman of the earth, with no frame other than his own weird personality. Unlike a singer like Andrew Dice Clay (remember him?) who deeply hopes that his audience will share his prejudices, the character of “Gilbert Gottfried” seems extremely innocent of the material’s offense.

As a gay man, I can say that this is especially true of two extremely bad and overly homophobic jokes that left the audience groaning. Not offended in the least, I salute his vulgarity that falls on his jaw. Touch, GG. I’d give the show a 9, except it ends with a remake of “The Aristocrats,” an all-too-familiar area with no real acting. But then, the journey is the reward.

hot gay comics

Rating: 4.1/5

Away from traditional stand-up, Hot Gay Comics highlights the best and proudest comedy. Each show features a cast that includes key characters as well as newcomers to the world of comedy. here! Networks brings together friends and contemporary comedians for a fun night of gay and lesbian storytelling. This is not your straight friends’ comedy show.

smart booking

Rating: 4/5

On the eve of their high school graduation, two academic superstars and best friends realize they should have worked less and played more. Determined not to fall behind their peers, the girls try to pack four years of fun into one night.

Restart

Rating: 4/5

If you like raw, delicious and wickedly funny comedy, DL Hughley is your stand-up guy. One of the most popular comedians on film, TV and radio unleashes a hilarious display of stand-up comedy genius in this non-stop Showtime special filmed in front of a crazy and enthusiastic New Jersey audience. It’s a comedy that will reset your whole sense of humor.

Ali Wong: baby cobra

Rating: 3.9/5

You can say what you want about Ali Wong, that he’s rude, that he’s not afraid to laugh with other races, but the only thing that’s relevant in a stand-up comedy is that it’s funny, and that’s definitely Ali Wong. . This is the second show I watch and they were both good, Baby Cobra is even better than Hard Knock Wife in my opinion. Ali Wong tells it like it is, it’s crude, a bit vulgar, but very funny. I can understand that for some it is too much, this is humorous, or you can take it or be offended, in my case I am his biggest fan. I look forward to more Ali Wong performances, maybe a non-pregnant Ali Wong next time, that would be a change.
