Best TCL TVs 2024: offering top-notch features at fair prices

TCL is changing its Best TVs strategy by getting rid of its long-running 6-Series, 5-Series, and 4-Series

I just recently noticed that TCL has changed some of its TVs, which makes me think of the times I’ve used their products. They want to make things more interesting, so they are getting rid of their well-known 6-Series, 5-Series, and 4-Series names. Instead, they’ve added two new lines: the Q-Series is for their more expensive TVs, and the S-Series is for their cheaper ones. You can now choose from six different models in these two groups, which is pretty cool.

The Chinese electronics manufacturer has quickly become a major player in the U.S. TV market, and it is not hard to see why, with a plethora of affordable TVs offering high-end features at very reasonable prices. Casual buyers will be attracted to the cheaper options, such as TCL’s Series 4 and Series 5, which cost a few hundred dollars at most. But the company has also managed to introduce next-generation technologies such as quantum dots and Mini-LED technology into its more expensive TVs.

Years before Samsung, LG, and Sony began using Mini-LED backlighting, TCL was already introducing TVs with this technology to the market, and its willingness to focus on new ideas has made it an interesting company to watch. Even the cheaper models benefited from the latest panel technology. with the new QLED TVs Series 5 and QLED Series 6 TVs, ensuring that TCL’s cheaper offerings can stand out in a crowded market. Below, we have mentioned some of the best TCL TVs.

8 Best TCL TVs

TCL 43UP130 43-Inch 4K Ultra HD Roku Smart LED TV

Best TCL TVs

The TCL UP130 is an inexpensive 4k LCD TV with above-average picture quality. Unfortunately, motion handling is below average, and input lag is also far from ideal. It is unable to achieve high brightness to cope with glare, and when viewed from an angle, image quality degrades quickly. The intelligent Roku platform works great, however.

Overall performance slightly above average. Performs well in dark scenes. Above-average image quality. Unfortunately unable to achieve high brightness. Slightly better than average motion handling. Image quality degrades quickly when looking from an angle. Colors are fairly accurate.

TCL 40S325

Best TCL TVs

TCL is one of the few major brands that still produces smaller and cheaper 1080p and 720p TVs. These types of TVs are ideal for kitchens or bedrooms, as they have a built-in smart system and can easily stream your favorite programs without the need for an external device. If this is what you are looking for, the TCL 40S325 is a good choice for your needs. It is still in stock and is an inexpensive TV that is not bad overall. It has 1080p resolution, so even if you can’t watch 4k content, you can still get a sharp 1080p picture.

Roku’s built-in smart platform has fewer features than the more expensive models and is slower, but it still has all the same great apps available. If you are buying such an inexpensive TV, you will have to accept some compromises. It does not perform well in bright environments because it has a low peak brightness, but it handles glare well and returns deep blacks if you want to use it in moderately lit or dark environments. It also does not support HDR, but is fine on a 1080p TV. Fortunately, it has excellent factory accuracy, which is important since you cannot calibrate it.

TCL Roku TV 6-Series 8K (R648)

Best TCL TVs

When it comes to 8K TVs, there are many ultra-premium TVs to choose from, but TCL has taken it a step further by lowering the price. The TCL 6-Series Roku 8K TV (R648) is the most affordable 8K TV on the market and is even more affordable than some of our recommended 4K TVs. It also has everything we love about Roku TVs, plus excellent performance and low latency in games.

Offering next-generation resolution at current-generation prices, we recommend an 8K TV-or what we would recommend if we thought people should buy 8K TVs. The only problems we found with the TV’s performance were the limited viewing angles of the 8K panel and mediocre audio, which can be solved with a simple soundbar. But the biggest problem is what every 8K TV faces: You can’t watch almost anything in 8K, and that may not change soon.

TCL 55″ Class 4-Series

Best TCL TVs

You can also use Roku’s mobile app for iOS or Android, which at least makes it easier to enter the various logins and passwords. The app also has voice search, which the TCL remote does not: just say a phrase like “Tacoma FD” to find all the places where you can see or buy a show or movie streamed. It’s fast: Once you get used to it, you wonder why all streaming platforms don’t work this way.

The situation is a little different with HDR content. Both the TCL and Vizio have perfect color gamut for non-HDR content, but neither goes any further. One of the advantages of the Samsung is a wider selection of colors. It looks much more colorful with HDR content, with deeper, richer tones.

TCL 75-inch 5-Series

Best TCL TVs

The TCL Series 5 QLED television is suitable for sports. Motion is good because of the fast response time that minimizes motion blur and the black frame insertion function. However, it has narrow viewing angles, so you do not get the same accurate image when looking from the side.

The color gamut is excellent and wide for HDR content, but the brightness is not sufficient to make highlights stand out as they should. It displays 4:4:4 chroma, which is important for reading text clearly. Unfortunately, viewing angles are small and the edges of the screen can appear inaccurate if you sit too close.

TCL 32-inch 1080p Roku Smart Tv

Best TCL TVs

The controls consist of a four-way navigation pad surrounding a central power/select button, located in the lower right corner. Like all the Roku TVs we have reviewed, this one comes with a fairly standard Roku-style remote control. It is a short black wand with a purple navigation pad, with Power, Home, and Back buttons above the pad and playback buttons immediately below.

The only preferred streaming service absent is iTunes, available only on Apple TV, while all others are probably available on Roku. Being a Roku TV, the TCL 32S327 supports the free Roku app for Android and iOS. This app allows you to use your mobile device as a remote control, enter text with the touch screen, search for content with your voice, and even stream photos and videos from your device using Play On Roku.

TCL 32-inch Class 3- Series

Best TCL TVs

TCL provided all the smart Internet and streaming features, plus more inputs and outputs than you might think with this 32-inch 720p TV. The picture is mediocre and we felt the lack of Bluetooth, but the price is not in question. It is a very good TV for its class.

It has 802.11n Wi-Fi, but no Bluetooth, so you cannot use commonly available Bluetooth speakers and headphones. It is, however, compatible with Roku wireless speakers. You can also use the headphone/aux output to power a discrete Bluetooth transmitter module.

TCL 75-inch 6-Series

Best TCL TVs

TCL has always impressed us with its 6 Series TVs, which offer high performance at reasonable prices. All of these TVs run exclusively on the Roku TV platform, an accessible and simple but not particularly feature-rich interface. The power cord connects to the left side of the back of the TV, while all other connectors are on the right side, facing to the right.

The remote control is a long, thin, rectangular black wand with nicely rounded edges. A large gray circular navigation pad sits near the top, with the power, settings, and the Google Assistant buttons above it, along with a pinhole microphone. The Google Assistant remains a very capable voice assistant, able to answer general questions such as weather and sports scores, search for content to watch, and directly control both the TV and any compatible smart home devices.

Final Words

TCL’s product line focuses primarily on the budget and excels in this area. Their smart platforms compete with the best and offer several smart platforms that other brands do not offer. In addition, the image quality of all models is consistently good. Overall, they are hard to beat when it comes to budget TVs and this makes them a pretty solid bet, but if you are looking for a higher quality TV, you can find options with other brands.
