Similar in size and shape as the Bose Smart Soundbar 300, the Bose Smart Soundbar 600 is a 3.0.2 system. Due to the addition of Dolby Atmos capabilities, a wide range of streaming services and Blu-rays now support height content.
The bar’s TrueSpace technology upmixes sound with extra effects for a multi-channel experience even if you’re watching stereo and 5.1 surround content. You may command this bar using its built-in voice assistant, and if you want to boost its performance, you can even purchase a separate sub and satellites from the manufacturer.
The Bose Smart Soundbar 600 is a small, all-in-one soundbar that supports Dolby Atmos soundtrack playing and upconverts stereo and conventional 5.1 channel sources for Atmos presentation using its proprietary TrueSpace technology. DTS:X cannot be used. There is a remote control included, and the Bose Music app may be used for setup and operation. Additionally, the Soundbar 600 can be enhanced with the vendor’s wireless surround speakers and subwoofers, which are optional (up to two).
The Soundbar 600 uses five transducers in total: two top-mounted ones for Dolby Atmos overhead effects and two side-mounted ones that work with a center-mounted tweeter to produce an enhanced stereo image. Bose doesn’t specify the driver size or amplifier power.
For connecting an older TV that does not support HDMI ARC/eARC, the Soundbar 600 has an optical digital audio input in addition to an HDMI eARC connector. It would be wonderful to have a second HDMI port for passthrough, but that feature isn’t typically seen on affordable soundbars; the Sonos beam doesn’t have one.
The Bose offers wireless streaming via Wi-Fi, AirPlay 2, built-in Chromecast, Spotify Connect, and Bluetooth. For Wi-Fi streaming, the Bose Music app also incorporates a number of services, such as Amazon Music, Spotify, Pandora, Deezer, iHeartRadio, TuneIn Radio, and Sirius XM.
With Alexa integration, you can operate basic controls like volume and track skipping hands-free and get access to music apps that work with Alexa. In the event that a Google speaker is connected to the network, the Soundbar 600 also integrates with Google Assistant and offers comparable capabilities. When the Soundbar 600 is configured to work with Alexa, you may use its Voice4Video feature to operate connected Smart TV features including turning it on and off, pausing video playback, and changing channels.
The Soundbar 600 includes the proprietary TrueSpace processing in addition to Dolby Atmos. This upconverts incoming stereo, mono, and 5.1-channel sound sources for an immersive presentation akin to Atmos employing the soundbar’s entire speaker array.
