The Cricut EasyPress is a Cricut machine with an even heat distribution ceramic heat plate. Because of the even distribution of heat, the EasyPress 2 is ideal for Iron Ons. If you’ve ever had an iron-on fail or come loose, it was most likely due to an uneven heat source.
Most of us do not have room in our craft rooms for a large heat press. Most clothing manufacturers use a large heat press machine to apply heat transfer materials to t-shirts, wood, and other fabric items. If you’re a hobby crafter like me, you probably don’t need a large machine that generates a lot of heat in your home. That is why Cricut created EasyPress.
The EasyPress Mini’s defining feature is, of course, its diminutive size. The plate size is only 3.5′′ x 2′′, which is significantly smaller than the smallest EasyPress 2 (6′′ x 7′′) and much smaller than the original EasyPress and EasyPress 2 regular size plates of 9′′ x 9′′. And, of course, it has nothing on the largest EasyPress 2’s behemoth 12″ x 10″ plate. But you’re buying it for its small size and contours that allow it to easily glide into the smallest and most difficult-to-reach places.
Unlike the EasyPress and EasyPress 2, the EasyPress Mini does not have an exact temperature setting; instead, it has three heat settings. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing; it takes the guesswork out of estimating how much heat your project requires and is very simple to use and set. When working with Cricut Infusible Ink materials, use the highest heat setting. It, like the larger EasyPress machines, can reach temperatures of 400°F.
One of our favourite features of the Cricut EasyPress line is that the plates always heat up evenly. There are no hot or cold spots, and there is no risk of accidentally singing your material when using a household iron for heat transfer projects. The ceramic coated plate ensures that heat is even, dry, and evenly distributed from edge to edge.
