Canon Pixma TR150 review

The Canon Pixma TR150 performed solidly in our tests. Text printing in particular was fast from both the PC and iPhone. Color graphics and photo printing were faster than average, and with a startup time of under 5 seconds, you can work quickly.

The Canon Pixma TR150 is a portable inkjet printer that is small and lightweight. Due to its tiny size and light weight, it should easily fit in a travel bag. It has a rechargeable battery, so you can continue printing even when there is no power outlet nearby. Especially for color and photo printing, it offers excellent print quality and very good cost per print. Here we have mentioned all the information about this printer in our Canon Pixma TR150 review.

The IP100, a portable wireless printer that is small and lightweight, is joined by the Canon Pixma TR150. The Pixma TR150 can print files up to A4 size and is only 66 mm thick and weighs 2.3 kg. It has a 1.44-inch, black-and-white OLED screen that makes it easy for you to navigate. It can also be charged via USB Type-C and supports a variety of wireless printing options.

You may need to replace the black cartridge frequently due to the low page yield of text documents printed with black ink only. It can only be used for printing, as it lacks a flatbed scanner and a cut-sheet scanner. For home use, the Canon PIXMA TR150 is only average. It has a below average scanner and produces few black and white or color pages. Still, the cost per print is very reasonable, especially for color and image prints. We are here with our Canon Pixma TR150 review.

It produces images that are sufficiently detailed and its colors look accurate. The Canon PIXMA TR150 is a consolidated inkjet model designed for mobile use. Thanks to its small size and light weight, it fits easily into a travel bag. It has a rechargeable battery, so you can print even when there’s no power outlet nearby. Its color accuracy and photo printing quality are satisfactory.

Canon Pixma TR150 review: Design

When closed for travel, the Canon PIXMA TR150 is compact, measuring 12.7 x 7.3 x 2.6 inches. The front flap drops to show the output slot, and the lid raises to function as a 50-sheet input paper tray. The vertical paper tray brings the depth and height up to 12.1 and 9.7 inches, respectively. For a portable model, the printer weighs only 4.5 pounds. The weight of the device rises to 5.1 pounds when the optional battery is attached to the back. The HP OfficeJet 250 weights 6.7 pounds with the battery is installed in contrast. The control panel is visible on top of the body when the lid is opened.

A wireless connectivity button, a tiny 1.4-inch monochrome OLED display, and a four-way control are all included. There are no slots for memory cards. On the right panel, next to the back, adjacent to the power port, is the USB port. It has a USB-C cable and supports Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi Direct. The TR150 features support for voice controls with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant in addition to AirPrint, Google Cloud Print, and Mopria compatibility. It also supports device pairing using IFTTT.

The compact and light weight design of the Canon PIXMA TR150 is one of its selling factors. The printer is simpler to slip into a carrying case for simple transportation thanks to the streamlined design. The printer is 2.6 by 7.3 by 12.7 inches in size and weighs roughly 4.5 pounds. You can be confident that something this size will fit practically everywhere, including a bench, a vehicle seat, or even a park bench. Trays of the printer can be raised for printing and then closed to make transportation simpler and safer.

Canon Pixma TR150 review: Print Quality

The paper determines the quality. The recycled bond paper, which costs $5 for a ream of 500 sheets, is like a sponge and has a matte surface. A premium paper with a silky touch, such the Burrows 100gsm ($9 per ream), will yield prints that are more vivid and sharp. You cannot utilise specialty coated stocks since the printer cannot handle paper heavier than 105gsm. Sharp black text and suitable colours are provided in terms of print quality, and there is no banding. With dithering, you can get resolutions of up to 4800 x 1200 DPI, but it takes longer and uses more ink. A 6×4 inch test photo took just over a minute. The photo preset significantly increases ink use.

Canon Pixma TR150 review: Performance

Once everything is connected, you can print your files directly from a computer folder or using an app on a mobile device. The Canon PIXMA TR150 receives the printing request almost immediately, and it is convenient that it displays the printing status and ink levels on its screen as it proceeds. There are several trade-offs while being excellent for saving space. The front paper flap on this printer is tiny and does not hold the paper when it emerges, in contrast to larger printers. To prevent the printed paper from falling, you must place it on a flat surface with adequate room for it.

The Canon PIXMA TR150 paper tray also has a flimsy feel about it. We discovered that the printer occasionally fails to alert you if the paper was not inserted correctly, resulting in printouts that are slightly off-center. Not a big deal, but if you want to print photos on it, you’ll waste one sheet and some ink. Overall, the print quality was excellent. Color images on Canon’s Photo Paper Plus Glossy II were more than adequate for a printer that hasn’t been made to compete with professional photo labs. Documents had clear, sharp text with deep black ink.

You may perform the majority of fundamental tasks using the app or straight from your computer file if you want to adjust the print settings, such as choosing borderless or bordered printing or altering the paper size. However, you might need to utilize more sophisticated software with print calibration options if you’re using picture paper and want to achieve flawless colour reproduction.

Canon Pixma TR150 review: Battery Life

Canon decided to sell the battery separately rather than bundle it with the printer like the Epson WF-110 and HP Officejet do. Even with the printer and battery costs added together, it is still 10% less expensive than the HP Officejet 200. However, the Epson WF-110 is 6% less expensive than the total cost of the Canon. Of all the portable printers discussed, the Canon Pixma TR150’s optional battery has the most battery life. It has a 2150 mAh capacity, and charging time is roughly three hours.

The HP battery only has a 1050mAh capacity compared to the 1860mAh of the Epson. Canon’s battery can support 330 colour prints, but only when connected through a USB cable. The strain on a battery is increased by features like WiFi or a huge display. The secret to long battery life is in the amount of electricity used. Printing with the Canon Pixma TR150 requires no more than 8 watts. in contrast to the HP’s 15 watts and the Epson’s 12 watts. I’ve seen that Canon invests a lot of time and energy in research and development.

In a situation like this, it pays off. They discovered a method to print colour pages using only 8 watts. 50 pages of colour and 100 pages of B&W can be produced by the Epson battery. To double the print output, Epson provides an additional battery that can be mounted on the back. The battery’s page yield is not disclosed by HP. Although that should come as no surprise given the Canon’s reduced capacity and nearly doubled power usage.

Canon Pixma TR150 review: Software

For a time now, a number of Android and iOS smartphones and tablets have been supported by the Canon PIXMA TR150 series (respectively, business-oriented and consumer versions focused on photos). Apple AirPrint, Canon Print App, Canon Print Service, and Canon Print Plug-In are examples of mobile applications. Another addition worth noticing is Canon’s PosterArtist Lite app, a condensed version of the full-featured PosterArtist tool that comes with the company’s imagePrograf printers for professional photographers.

More than 1,300 poster templates, stock images, and clipart are included in PosterArtist Lite, along with sophisticated text and colour editing tools. It allows you to share poster design on your preferred cloud sites and can print from Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. The cross-platform Easy PhotoPrint Editor tool, Google Cloud Print, and Mopria Print Services are also included, along with Creative Park. You either put the installation CD into your PC or download the software online.

Price and Availability

It employs the well-proven (and pricey) PGI-35 Black Pigment (200 pages) and CLI-36C Tricolor Dye (260 pages) cartridges, but portability comes at a cost. Through the OLED display, you can check your levels. It is available at Office Works for $37.98/22.38 ($60.36 total). If you mostly print in black, a page costs 11 cents. It costs 23 cents per page to print a mixture of text and graphics. Look out for bulk discounts if you plan to use this for more than just occasional printing.

A two-pack costing about $45 and a six-pack costing $135, each with three black cans. Budget printers like the Canon PIXMA TR150 do really cost more than standard printers. The finest form of payment, however, can be printed practically anywhere. PGI-35 (Pigment Black) Ink Cartridge 200 Sheets – RM69.60 CLI-36 (Color) Ink 260 Pages – RM102.60 Black and white printing runs about RM 0.34 per page, while colour printing costs about RM 0.39 per page.

Use RM172.70 per month, each issue, for a maximum output of 500 pages per month. Depending on how the pen is used, different amounts of ink are used. Both the printer and the Canon PIXMA TR150can be used often in the business. CLI-36 and PGI-35 cartridges will last longer as a result.

Final Words

The Canon Pixma TR150 is designed to meet your printing needs while traveling or in the great outdoors. It has a wireless connection that makes it easier to print documents quickly and with excellent print quality. Therefore, this wireless, highly portable printer is ideal for traveling or working outdoors. With this printer, you can print documents faster and easier than with a standard home office or workplace printer. If you travel a lot and need to print high-quality documents on the go, this printer is the ideal companion.
