Crazy Deal: Bose QuietComfort 45 in just $279 at Best Buy

When most people think of headphones with active noise cancellation (ANC), they think of some variant of Bose headphones. For a long time, these headphones were among the most popular on the market and were known for their effectiveness and relative ease of use. Two years ago, the Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700 were launched, and five years ago, the QuietComfort 35 hit the market.

Bose ANC headphones are something of an archetype, and for good reason: they’re very good and offer comfort and ease of use for most people. The Bose QuietComfort 45 is no different. If there’s one big advantage to the QC 45 looking almost identical to its predecessors, it’s that you won’t be in for any big surprises.

The ear cups are decently sized, and the headset weighs a reasonable 240 grams, distributing its weight well enough to not cause fatigue over extended periods of time. The leatherette ear cushions are dense enough to provide good insulation, and the headband offers a bit of padding on top as well.

Included in the packaging of the Bose QuietComfort 45 are a travel pouch, a 3.5mm-2.5mm jack cable, a USB Type-A to C cable, and various documentation. The Bose QuietComfort 45 connects to your smartphone or other source via the Bluetooth 5.1 hardware in the ear cups, or you can connect it wirelessly via the 2.5-to-3.5mm jack cable included in the box. With the wireless option, you can get up to nine feet away from your source device before experiencing connectivity issues.

If you were hoping for a top-of-the-line Bluetooth codec with Bose’s latest product, you’ll be disappointed: The QC 45 doesn’t support aptX or high-bitrate Bluetooth codecs. While this may be disappointing to some, the implementations of SBC and AAC have improved over the years.

With noise cancellation enabled, the Bose QuietComfort 45 lasts 24 hours and 49 minutes, exceeding Bose’s claimed battery life of 24 hours. In our battery tests, the headset is subjected to constant music playback of up to 75 dB(SPL) until the batteries are depleted. So if you listen at a lower volume, you can definitely surpass the 25-hour mark. You can use the USB-C cable to quickly charge the QC 45. A quick 15-minute charge gives you 180 minutes of playtime.
