Deal on AMD Ryzen 7 5700X: save 37% and get this for $299.00

The eight-core, 16-thread AMD Ryzen 7 5700X is a slightly changed, cheaper version of its predecessor, the $335 Ryzen 7 5800X. However, after a little bit of easy tuning, it has almost the same gaming and application performance. The 5700X is the first model in AMD’s new line of seven Ryzen 5000 models. These models are meant to help the company do better in CPU benchmarks and get back on the list of the best CPUs for gaming.

After Intel’s Alder Lake shook up the Ryzen lineup with a better mix of price and performance, this is a must-have. The Ryzen 7 5700X uses the same Zen 3 architecture and 7nm process as its competitors. It also fits into the ecosystem of AM4 motherboards that is already in place. Its predecessor, the 5800X, was always a strange chip.

Features:

  • Less expensive than 5800X
  • AM4 compatible, great for upgraders
  • Overclockable
  • Tame 65W TDP

Because of its price, it was the only Ryzen 5000 processor that didn’t make much sense for almost anyone, since both Intel and AMD had similar products. In fact, the 5800X was placed so poorly, and the Ryzen 7 5700X was missing, that it stood out.

Taking a look at the more serious applications to start, it’s clear that the 5700X has a tough road ahead of it. From the Cinebench R23 score, this new chip looks pretty good compared to the 6-Core 5600X. However, when you look at what the Core i5 12600K can do, it’s so far behind the Alder Lake in both single-core and multi-core performance that it’s not even in the same league.

When it comes to the x264 video encoding test, things aren’t quite as bad, but if that’s the kind of thing you want to do on your PC when you’re not playing games, there’s only one choice here. At least for this much cash. PCMark 10 is also won by the Core i5 12600K.

How to get AMD Ryzen 7 5700X?

The only places where the 5700X is better than the Intel chip are in how much power it uses and how hot it runs. The 12600K, however, has a lower idle temperature than AMD’s chip. The minimums also tend to favour Intel. Far Cry 6 in particular has much higher minimums, which makes the game run much smoother. It’s not that the Ryzen 7 5700X is bad at gaming, but since it costs about the same as the 12600K and has a few more advantages and supports more technologies, it’s a better choice for anyone who wants to build a gaming PC right now.
