Deal on ROCCAT Pyro Mechanical PC Gaming Keyboard for only $64

The ROCCAT Pyro keyboard is excellent for gaming, especially considering its price. It has low latency, multimedia hotkeys and customizable RGB backlighting. You can set macros through ROCCAT Swarm software, but only on the alphanumeric keys on the left side of the keyboard, including 5, T, G and B. It has the Easy-Shift[+] function, which allows you to unlock a second macro level on these same keys for as long as you hold them down.

While the other keys cannot have macros, it is still possible to remap the keys. The TTC Red linear switches with which it is equipped are very light and responsive, although the pre-travel distance is greater than other linear switches. Unfortunately, while well constructed, the plastic frame has some flexing. It also uses ABS key covers, which are slippery and tend to become slick from finger oil.

The ROCCAT Pyro is well built, but has some shortcomings due to its price. The plastic frame has some flexibility, but the brushed aluminum base plate contributes more rigidity. The doubleshot ABS key covers are smooth, but also slippery and can become slick from finger oil. The keys are stable with little wobble, and the larger keys operate smoothly. There are six large rubber pads on the underside that prevent the keyboard from slipping on the desk, and the slanted feet have rubber edges that help keep it in place.

The ROCCAT Pyro keyboard has good ergonomics. It is a straight, flat board with a fairly low profile and a single tilt setting. It has a detachable plastic wrist rest with a horizontal texture. Although the wrist rest is not very soft, it adds some comfort to the typing experience. ROCCAT Pyro has some additional features, such as media hotkeys and a volume control knob. You can activate Game mode by pressing FN+Scroll Lock, which disables the Windows key, so you don’t accidentally minimize the game.

Macros can be set on the alphanumeric keys on the left, including 5, T, G and B, which are activated only in Game mode. In addition, the Easy-Shift[+] function allows you to unlock a second macro level on these same keys for as long as you hold it down. The keys to the right of these Easy-Shift[+] keys cannot have macros set, but you can remap the keys using ROCCAT Swarm software.

The ROCCAT Pyro offers an excellent typing experience. The keys are stable and have only a little wobble, but it should not be too noticeable while typing. The TTC Red linear switches are very light and responsive, with no acoustic or tactile feedback. Due to the standard shape and spacing of the keys, you should not feel much fatigue while typing on this board. The ROCCAT Pyro is equipped with TTC Red linear switches, which are very light and quite responsive, although the pre-travel distance is greater than other linear switches. The board is only available with these linear switches.
