Disable Google Chrome UI Theme Redesign and Return to Classic UI

This guide is about the How to Disable Google Chrome UI Theme Redesign and Return to Classic UI. I will try my best so that you understand this guide very well. I hope you all like this guide How to Disable Google Chrome UI Theme Redesign and Return to Classic UI.

If you’ve recently updated your Google Chrome browser, you’ve probably noticed that there’s a new themed visual overhaul called Material Design on board. The new themed Chrome seems to be the default in Chrome version 69 or later. Some users may be happy with Chrome’s new theme look and feel and different interfaces, while others may want Chrome to respect the default visual look of operating systems instead of using a custom theme.

If you want to disable the interface for a recently designed Chrome browser theme, you can do so by changing the dimly named setting in the Chrome app.

Disabling a theme will appear in this Chrome browser on your Mac, but the disable entry and setting for the new theme should be the same in Chrome for Windows and Linux.

Disable Chrome UI Redesign in Chrome 69+

Would you like to revert to Chrome’s regular classic interface instead of using the new theme theme by default in Chrome 69 or later? Here’s how to do it:

  1. Enter the following link in the chrome URL bar:
  2. chrome: // flags / # top-chrome-md

  3. Search for “UI Layout for the browser chrome” *
  4. Drag down the submenu next to “UI Layout for the browser chrome” and select “Normal” from the drop-down list
  5. Disable Chrome UI redesign

  6. Restart the Chrome browser (close and restart) for the visual change to take effect

When Chrome is restarted, Chrome will no longer include a revamped rounded interface that is different from the rest of the operating system, and should instead be a regular classic interface again.

Here’s the standard Chrome UI again:

Chrome returns to the normal UI interface

And just what the new Chrome interface looked like:

The Chrome UI theme is being redesigned

Although this is shown in Chrome for Mac, the setting should be exactly the same in Chrome for Windows and Chrome for Linux, as both use the same settings: // flag system and each now has the latest interface for the latest versions.

That’s all there is to it. You can always change the UI back if you want, or choose another drop-down option from “Browser UI Chrome Layout” and see what it looks like or fits your visual preferences.

* Curiously marked “UI Layout for the browser chrome” and the associated song trying to explain the setting is a bit of a wordless word salad, but believe it or don’t change the setting to Normal, the new theme will be removed from Chrome and restore Chrome to the classic default UI.

Another interesting change in the latest Chrome release is that by default, Chrome hides a large number of website URLs in current versions, but you can change the setting so that Chrome displays the full URL and subdomains of the URL, if you are interested, it will basically return the URL addresses as they were before the latest versions.
