Restore the Router’s Default Settings
- In your web browser, type in your router’s IP address, which is usually found on the back of your router.
- You will be asked to give a username and password to get access. First, try the default ones: admin/admin, but if that doesn’t work, call your Internet provider.
- Click on the Tools tab and System Commands on the left.
- Finally, click on the Restore Default Settings button.
Set DNS by Yourself
- Switch on the Xbox.
- Go to Settings, then Network, then Advanced, then DNS settings, and then Manual.
- Here, you can manually set the DNS. For example, the Primary DNS can be changed to 8.8.8.
- To save the change, press the Enter key.
- Change the address for Secondary DNS to 8.4.4.
- To save the change, press the Enter key.
- To save the changes, press B when you go back to Wireless Settings.
Modify the Width Of Your Wi-Fi Channel
- Press the Windows key and the R key together.
- Type ipconfig into the run box’s empty field and press Enter.
- Note the number for the Default gateway.
- Type the number for the default gateway into your browser and hit the Return key.
- Find the Channel Width option in Wireless Settings.
- Choose 20 Mhz from the drop-down menu.
Restart the console and router
- Press and hold the Xbox logo for about 5–8 seconds to turn off your console.
- Pull the power cord out.
- Turn off your router and take the power cord out.
- Wait about two to three minutes.
- Plug both systems in and turn them on.
- Try hooking up your Xbox to the web.
