Sekiro Shadows Die Twice: How to Find the Hidden Temple Key, Bloodborne changed the way Dark Souls battles work to make players more aggressive, but Sekiro changes the rules of the game. The building blocks of its combat are familiar, but this only makes veterans of Soulsborne feel like they know what to expect. Combat in Sekiro is very difficult.
You have to study your opponent, find the right time to attack, and then do a follow-up in a split second that, if done right, will end the battle in a few seconds, but if done wrong, will end you just as quickly. This might sound like what every other From Software game asks of you, but Sekiro is harder than Dark Souls and Bloodborne when it comes to these requirements.
Over the years, fans of From Software have gotten used to the language of Soulsborne games. We recognize situations and know the tricks, we can find good strategies more quickly, and since the skills are transferable, we can use these strategies with some confidence. But Sekiro puts this knowledge to the test.

- Unlock the checkpoint by defeating Shinobi Hunter Enshin of Misen.
- Proceed straight until you reach a small staircase that turns left.
- Encounter a lot of enemies; you can either dispatch them or quickly run around.
- It’s okay to run past the enemies if desired.
- The Hidden Temple Key is not far from the Bamboo Thicket Slope.
- Reach a big bridge with four enemies in front of you.
- Choose to either deal with them or run past them.
- Running past them is less risky as they won’t follow you up the slope ahead.
- Upon reaching the top of the slope, find yourself in a burning courtyard.
- Notice Owl slumped over in the corner.
Where is the Hidden Temple Key in Sekiro?
To get the Hidden Temple Key, you have to find The Owl, who is Sekiro’s adopted father and a Shinobi like you. There are many ways to do this, but starting from the Hirata Estate Sculptor’s Idol is the quickest. This idol is in the first area of the Hirata Estate, right after the bridge you cross.
You just need to keep going straight from that idol. When you first get to Hirata Estate, you’ll find a closed gate. To get around it, you’ll need to go off the main path. Once you know how to get around the gate, you can open it to save time and keep going down the path.

Note that you will need the Hidden Temple Key to gain access to Lady Butterfly. If you missed it, head up the Bamboo Thicket Slope area past the Shinobi Hunter Mini-Boss, and follow the path up and across a bridge to part of the burning estate, where a character will give you the key before dying.
Then you go behind to Dilapidated Temple and eavesdrop on Emma-sama and the Sculptor/Sekijo. After you did this, ask Emma-samma about the thing she talked about with Sekijo and what she is hiding. Then she will give you “Fathers Bell-Charm” which unlocks the second memory of Hirata Estate.
