Check How to Clear the Android Device’s Cache

Your applications and your web browser store all bits of information to increase the speed of your browsers when you use them.

Over time, your phone can store a lot of files that you don’t really need. You can clean the files to free up some storage space on your device. Clearing the cache can also help with website behavior issues.

Clearing the browser cache and application cache of an Android phone is a very quick and simple process.

How to clear cache on Android devices

In modern versions of Android, you need to delete the cache files for each app individually. Keep in mind that you rarely need to delete the entire cache on your device. In most cases, clearing the cache of some problematic applications can solve storage or performance problems.

Follow these steps to clear cached data for an Android app. We have used Android 11 as standard here; your device may look a little different.

  1. Open Settings and select Storage.
  2. In the resulting list, tap the Other apps entry. This will take you to a list of all the applications installed on your phone.
  3. Choose the application whose cache you want to clear. To see which apps are taking up the most space, tap the three-dot menu at the top right and choose Sort by size. We will use Chrome as an example.
  4. On the app’s information page, tap the Clear cache option.

That is all you need to do to clear the cache files of any application on your Android phone.

Note that if you tap Clear Storage, you will delete all the app data. This basically resets it to a new state, as if you just installed it from the Play Store.

Older versions of Android gave you the option to delete all cached files at once by going to Settings> Storage> Cached Data. From there, just tap on OK when you see the option to delete all cache files. Unfortunately, there is no built-in way to clear the entire cache in modern versions of Android.
