  • Next to Dolby Atmos, choose Automatic or Always On.
    • If you choose Automatic, songs in Dolby Atmos will play automatically when you’re listening through the latest iPhone, iPad, or Mac models, and AirPods and Beats headphones with W1 or H1 chips.
    • Otherwise, choose On if you’re using other headphones that don’t support autoplay.

If you use AirPods Pro and AirPods Max, you need to turn on Spatial Audio. There are two ways to do this:

  • Access Control Center by swiping down from the top right corner of your screen.
  • Touch and hold the volume button.
  • Tap Spatial Audio to turn it on.

Alternatively:

  • Go to Settings > Bluetooth.
  • Tap the information icon (i) on the right side of your AirPods.
  • Scroll down and toggle the Spatial Audio switch.
    • If you’re used to listening to stereo tracks, Dolby Atmos tracks may be quieter. You can activate Sound Check to counteract this.
    • If you’re using an iPhone or iPad, go to Settings > Music and turn on Sound Test. On your Mac, go to the menu bar and click Music > Preferences, choose Playback, then select Sound Test.
