At its fall event, Microsoft not only introduced new Surface computers, but also announced the availability of the Windows 10 update. What was the main novelty of this version? The Your Phone application that allows easy sharing between a smartphone and your PC. Drag and drop photos from a Phone to a window on the PC. Or send web pages from a Phone to the PC, where they can be immediately opened or saved in the Action Center for later use. You can also view your PC’s timeline on the Phone, although this feature is still called Beta as it is the coolest feature of all, Screen Mirroring, which allows you to view and interact with your smartphone screen on a PC.

However, if you have an Android Phone, you can now receive notifications for Phone apps in the Your Phone app on PC, Microsoft announced this week. Microsoft would love to have the same functionality on the iPhone, but Apple is closely protecting its ecosystem. Android is much more customizable than iOS, so it can even display a different home splash screen for your Phone. With Your Phone, Microsoft uses this openness to create an impressive connection between the world of mobile devices and desktop computers.
