Hi everyone, in this article we will show you How to remove/overwrite all data on hard drive for free in Windows 11. Microsoft will make Windows 11 generally available on October 5. This is the latest version of the tech giant’s operating system. And now we’ll show you how to erase and overwrite all data on an internal hard drive for free!
Most Windows users know that a file deleted on the PC is not really gone and can still be recovered. In fact, the deleted files are only on the hard drive until they are overwritten with new data. To really erase data, users often resort to applications like CCleaner or Eraser, which delete free space for you. How to remove/overwrite all data on hard drive for free in Windows 11
Step 1 : Before we can use the format command in this way, we first need to boot our device with a Windows 11 recovery drive. To create a Windows 11 recovery USB drive, if you don’t already have one, type “create drive recovery” in the desktop search tool and click on the appropriate search result.
Step 2 : You don’t need to include system files for this purpose, but it’s still recommended to have a full recovery drive for Windows 11. You’ll need at least 32GB of storage to include all the system files. If you choose to omit system files, all you need is 1 GB. Make your selection, then press the Next button.
Step 3 : Choose the appropriate USB flash drive, then click the Next button. Creating the recovery drive will take a few minutes. Click Finish when it has completed the process.
Step 4 : Now insert your Windows 11 recovery drive into the PC you want to erase with the format command and boot it using the USB drive rather than the installed operating system. The most efficient way to do this is to press and hold the Shift key while you select Restart from the Start button shutdown menu.
Step 5 : When you reach Troubleshooting Boot Mode, select Troubleshoot | Advanced Options | Command Prompt from the menu. In the command prompt screen, type this command:
Format C: /P:4
Step 6 : This command will format C drive and overwrite data with random numbers four times. You can change the player specifications and number of passes to suit your particular preferences.
