Check How to Use Google Authenticator to keep Accounts Secure

Google Authenticator is one of the most popular free 2FA apps. Like Authy, Google Authenticator allows users to create temporary six- or eight-digit codes on an iPhone, Android, or Blackberry to increase login security. This 2FA option also uses QR codes to create a token for each website you want additional security for.

Google Authenticator was originally an open source product, but after Google developed its own version, it became known as the familiar, minimalist alternative to the newer 2FA apps. For users using the full suite of Google products, Google Authenticator remains the preferred option.

In addition to time-based one-time passwords (TOTP), Google Authenticator also offers more user-friendly event-based passwords (HOTP or HMAC-based one-time passwords), which skip the time-based element and they generate a new key on demand that users can enter on their own time. In this article, we’ll show you how to use Google Authenticator to keep accounts secure.
