Sony has introduced a new 32-inch TV in their W830K series, promising a good set of features as well as premium performance in the segment. The smart TV is powered by the latest Google TV platform for TV, which is based on Android 11. The Sony KD-32W830K features a 32-inch screen with a resolution of 1366×768 pixels and a refresh rate of 50Hz. Given that this is a high-end TV.
The TV supports two HDR formats: HDR10 and HLG. A quad-core processor with four ARM Cortex A55 cores and a Mali-G31 GPU powers this TV. You get 1.5GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, about half of which is used by the operating system and preinstalled apps, and the other half is free for your use. These are good figures considering that most 32-inch Android-based TVs have 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. The sound output is rated at 20W, with Dolby audio support.
It has built-in Chromecast, and you can cast content to it from compatible apps on your smartphone or tablet. This Sony TV extends beyond the Google ecosystem and is also compatible with Alexa-enabled smart devices, which you can control from this TV by asking Alexa to do so. Apple AirPlay and HomeKit are also in compliance. The picture quality is good. Sony TVs have bright panels and great color reproduction. You can modify the picture if you want. Sony has opted for a more traditional design with narrow but distinct bezels on all four sides rather than going bezel-less.
The elongated chin beneath the bottom bezel, which houses a power LED and an IR receiver, adds some personality to the design. Using the included stands, the TV can be wall-mounted or placed on a desk. The desktop stands secure the TV in place. The wall mount kit is not included, but will be provided during installation if necessary. The required screws are included, as well as a wireless remote control and a pair of AAA batteries.
For starters, the stands are attached near the Centre of the TV rather than near the edges, allowing this TV to be placed on a smaller desk. Second, the side ports are located near the left edge of the TV, making them accessible even after it has been wall-mounted.
