JBL Quantum 910 review 2024: a wireless gaming headset

The JBL Quantum 910 Wireless Gaming Headset has many of the extras you’d expect to find in a $299 gaming headset. The headset comes carefully packed with a lot of extras in a velvet bag. You get a Type-C charging cable, a 3.5mm audio cable for when your headphones run out of power, and a 2.4GHz wireless dongle for a low-latency wireless connection. The cables are made of nylon that has been woven together.

The headset doesn’t look like it would cost that much, though. The Quantum 910 Wireless is made entirely of plastic and is not very well made. It doesn’t look or feel high-end. In fact, the boom mic and the headband slider feel so cheap that you have to be careful when you use them. Most of the time, plastic is better than metal for making a headset lighter. But at 420g, the Quantum 910 Wireless is also not a light device.

Overall, there is not much about the way this headset looks that stands out at first glance. The slider on the headband can be set to a number of different positions to fit a wide range of head sizes. The hinge on the earcups is just the right amount of firm and flexible, and it can be turned all the way around so that the headset can lie flat around your neck. But we would have liked the boom mic to be retractable, be able to turn 360 degrees, and have a little more feedback when you flip it to mute.

We liked it for some types of music, but when we tried out the acoustic options, it was a bit confusing. The apps has an EQ that isn’t obvious, but it takes a lot of work to get to it. This is an area where JBL might be able to improve over time. But the Active Noise Cancelling is what makes this headset’s sound really stand out. When outside noise is taken away, music or games are more immersive. It also helps when making simple phone calls, because the sound of the person speaking drowns out any other sounds in the room.
