LG StanbyME review (2023) one of the best 27-inch smart TV

a unique lifestyle TV that puts more emphasis on portability than performance.

LG’s StanbyME is one of the most unusual TVs we have ever used, and that’s saying something since we have also tried Samsung’s raft-like Odyssey Ark gaming monitor and LG’s almost square DualUp. By comparison, those are both pretty normal. The StanbyME is a 27-inch touchscreen TV that runs on a battery and has a pedestal base with wheels. If picture quality is important to you, you can get a lot more for your $999 than the 1080p 60Hz IPS panel on the StanbyME.

LG StanbyME: Description

But it’s not just a big tablet with a cool stand. Even though you could “take a screen around the house” with an iPad and a music stand, and you could put a much better screen on a rolling TV mount, the stand is what makes this product special. we was ready to make fun of this gadget, but it turns out to be in a class by itself.

Most TV stands with wheels are huge, hard to move, ugly, and likely to roll over toes. You wouldn’t want to put one in your house if you could help it. The StanbyME’s low-end specs won’t appeal to AV snobs, but its stylish design and small size could make it useful for some people in surprising ways.

LG StanbyME: Design

LG StanbyME review

The LG StandbyME is a TV that hangs on the wall and is made to look good in any room. With a depth of only 13.9mm, it is one of the thinnest TVs on the market. With this thin profile and wall-mount design, the TV can sit almost flush against the wall, giving it a simple, modern look.

The StandbyME comes in 55-inch and 65-inch sizes, and both sizes have 4K Ultra HD resolution and HDR support. The TV also has LG’s own OLED technology, which makes the blacks deeper and the colors more vibrant. This makes for a truly immersive viewing experience.

The StandbyME has a unique feature called “gallery mode” that lets the TV show art, photos, and other images when it’s not being used. This feature, along with the TV’s slim design and the fact that it can be mounted on the wall, makes it a great choice for people who want a TV that will fit in with their home’s decor. In terms of connecting to other devices, the StandbyME has four HDMI ports, three USB ports, and Bluetooth. This makes it easy to connect to a wide range of devices.

LG StanbyME: Features

The LG StandbyME is a high-end TV that comes with a lot of high-tech features. One of the things that makes the StandbyME stand out is its OLED display technology, which makes pictures with rich colors and deep blacks that look amazing. The TV also supports 4K Ultra HD resolution and High Dynamic Range (HDR) content, which lets you watch shows in a truly immersive way.

LG’s webOS smart TV platform is built into the StandbyME. It has an easy-to-use interface for accessing streaming apps and services like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Hulu. The TV also has Wi-Fi and Ethernet connections built in, making it easy to connect to the internet and stream content.

Another cool thing about the StandbyME is that it has a gallery mode that shows artwork, photos, and other images when the TV is not being used. This turns the TV into a piece of art. The TV also has an AI ThinQ voice assistant built in. This lets people use voice commands to control the TV and get to other smart home devices.

The StandbyME is one of the thinnest TVs on the market because it is sleek and only 13.9mm thick. The TV can also be mounted on the wall, letting it sit almost flush against the wall for a simple look. The StandbyME has four HDMI ports, three USB ports, and Bluetooth, which makes it easy to connect to a wide range of devices like game consoles, soundbars, and mobile phones.

Plenty Portable

Samsung came up with the term “lifestyle TV” to describe its unusual TVs, which are more about how they look than how well they show pictures. The customizable, art-like The Frame or the girder-shaped The Serif ($1,499.99 for 55 inches) are both good examples. It’s a good way to talk about any TV that does something different. The LG StanbyME fits the bill because it looks like a Pixar lamp.

The StanbyME has a base that is heavy, a stem that is 42 inches tall, and a 27-inch screen. The base is a 15.6-inch-diameter wheeled disc with five rolling castors attached to the bottom. The stem comes up from the back edge of the base and has a 7-inch-long metal arm that can be moved up and down. The base and stem are both the same off-white color, but the arm looks like polished metal. The arm can move about nine inches up and down in a slot.

The screen is attached to the metal arm by a round mount on the back that clicks into place securely. You can slightly tilt the mount up or down, and you can turn the screen 90 degrees from landscape to portrait mode.

The front panel is simple and looks friendly. It is surrounded by a half-inch of off-white bezels with rounded corners on the front and a light gray fabric on the curved back. It has a clean, neutral look that isn’t as sleek as the almost bezel-less designs of most traditional TVs, but it shouldn’t stand out and should go with most decors.

LG StanbyME: Performance

LG StanbyME review

The LG StandbyME is a high-end TV that is made to work very well. The TV has an OLED screen, which gives it a great picture with bright colors, deep blacks, and a wide range of viewing angles. The TV also supports 4K Ultra HD resolution and High Dynamic Range (HDR) content, which lets you watch shows in a truly immersive way.

The StandbyME also has LG’s Alpha 9 Gen 4 AI processor, which is made to make things run smoothly and quickly. The processor is in charge of converting lower-resolution content to 4K and improving the picture quality. It also helps the TV run better overall.

The TV also has a high refresh rate of 120Hz, which makes motion smooth and fluid. This makes it great for watching sports, action movies, and playing video games. The TV also has a low input lag, which is important for gamers because it makes sure there isn’t much delay between what they do with the controller and what happens on the screen.

The sound quality of the StandbyME is also very good. It has a built-in speaker system that makes the sound clear and crisp. The TV also has Dolby Atmos, which gives you 3D sound that makes you feel like you’re in the movie or show.

Final Words

In my tiny 377-square-foot condo, the 27-inch display on a moveable stand came in handy because it met all of my daily needs. I could watch recipe videos while cooking in the kitchen or my favorite shows while sitting on the couch because it was easy to change the height of the screen.

This made it easy for me to do my daily tasks. It also doesn’t take up much space, which we didn’t mind. My dogs were able to move around the StanbyME without making it fall over, which was a huge plus for me.

FAQs

Is LG a good brand of TV?

When it comes to TVs, LG is a very good brand. They’ve become the best choice for OLED models and premium TVs with high-end features like Dolby Vision, AI-enhanced audio, cloud-based gaming, and streaming entertainment.

Is OLED better than 4K?

Compared to 4k UHD LED TVs, the viewing angle of an OLED TV is much wider and better. LEDs still have shutter problems because of the screen pixels, but OLED has more advanced pixels that can light themselves up. So, in this case, OLED is the clear winner.
