The Anywhere 3S has a new 8K sensor and other software tricks, but the most interesting thing about it is the squeak-click feature.

Summary

Overall, the MX Anywhere 3S offers a great productivity experience with precise navigation on any surface and plenty of customization options. Users with larger hands should only use it for travel or stick with its bigger brother.

The Logitech MX Anywhere 3S, which costs $79.99, is an update to the company’s excellent Anywhere 3. It is a portable cordless mouse with a nice design and a long battery life that came out in 2020. Physically, there aren’t many differences between the Anywhere 3 and the Anywhere 3S, but the new features are nice, like the better sensor and quieter clicks, and the changes to the mouse’s companion software, Options+, are big. As with the MX Keys S wireless keyboard, it’s hard to see why owners of the older model should upgrade, but that doesn’t change the fact that the MX Anywhere 3S is a great wireless mouse for getting work done on the go.

Logitech MX Anywhere 3S: Description

The MX Anywhere 3S can go anywhere, any time, just like its name says. With dimensions of 1.3 by 2.5 by 3.9 inches, the clicker is small enough to fit in a book bag, purse, or coat pocket without losing any of its usefulness. It might not be as eye-catching as Dell’s Bluetooth Travel Mouse, but it’s a lot easier to use. And at 3.3 ounces, it doesn’t weigh very much. It might be a little small for people with big salad fingers, but it fits most hands well.

The measurements aren’t the only thing that are the same as the first Anywhere 3. The chassis is still in the shape of a pebble, with perfectly ribbed sides and a great MagSpeed Electromagnetic scroll wheel that makes scrolling fast and easy. At the end of the mouse is a hidden USB-C port for charging, and under the scroll wheel is a DPI (dots per inch) resolution switch. On the left side of the mouse, there are two thumb buttons for Forward and Back or other functions. The power button and wireless sync button are hidden under the mouse.

Logitech MX Anywhere 3S: Design

Logitech MX Anywhere 3S review

The Logitech MX Anywhere 3S looks exactly the same as its predecessor, the MX Anywhere 3, and comes in the same three trendy colors: black, off-white, and pink. When put next to the MX Master 3S, which has a frame that is 124.9 mm x 84.3 mm x 51 mm, the Anywhere 3S looks like “a baby’s first mouse.” It only weighs 95 grams (0.2 pounds), while the Master 3S weighs 145 grams.

The Anywhere 3S is a good choice for people with smaller hands because of its smaller size. However, as someone with fairly large fingers, we found it harder to hold because we had to close my fingers so tightly. But after a few hours, we got used to it. No matter how big or small your hands are, the Anywhere is a much more portable option that is more likely to fit into tight spaces like an airplane tray table.

The MX Anywhere looks much more fashionable and less unusual than its big brother. It has a more traditional shape, with rounded corners and rubberized grips for comfort. The left and right click buttons, scroll wheel, and a button that changes the scroll wheel from smooth to ratcheted feel are all on the top of the mouse. The left and right buttons don’t make much noise when you press them, but you can still feel what they do. With these buttons, and the same ones on the MX Master 3S, my fingers don’t get as tired as they do with most mice’s noisy switches, but they still feel great.

Logitech MX Anywhere 3S: Comfort

Logitech MX Anywhere 3S review

The MX Anywhere 3S is a small and comfortable mouse that is great for people with small to medium-sized hands. We have always thought that regular computer mice are too big for my unusually small hands, but this one is just right. It’s also a pretty light mouse, at 95 grams or 0.2 pounds. This doesn’t always mean that someone with big hands wouldn’t be able to use the MX Anywhere 3S in a pinch. My husband has pretty big hands, and he said that it felt awkward enough that he wouldn’t want to use it as his daily driver. However, it has some cool features, like a scroll wheel, that make it fun to use.

No matter which button you press on the MX Anywhere 3S, it’s a joy to hear it click. The buttons on the left side are easy to reach with my thumb, and the smooth material below the buttons feels soft and cool to the touch. Logitech says that the mouse is made to work for both right-handed and left-handed people. However, a left-handed person would have to use their ring finger to push the side buttons, which feels a bit awkward.

It is also made in a more eco-friendly way than the MX Anywhere 3. Some of the mouse’s plastic parts are made from certified recycled plastic from used items. The graphite color is made from 78% recycled plastic. The pale gray and rose colors are made from 61% recycled plastic.

Logitech MX Anywhere 3S: Buttons

Logitech MX Anywhere 3S review

Even though left-clicking and right-clicking are the most common mouse actions, it’s nice to have more than two buttons. On the left side of the MX Anywhere 3S, there are a couple of extras. These are set to “forward” and “back” by default when you’re using a web browser, but you can easily change their functions in Logi Options+ if you want to use them for something else. Even though the MX Anywhere 3S is designed to be used with either hand, it’s important to note that these buttons are hard to click if you’re left-handed.

On top of that, you can click the scroll wheel to do something else, and there’s a button right behind it that lets you switch between the mouse’s DPI settings. There is no horizontal scroll wheel, and there is no place for one. It’s clear that multifunctionality is being given up for compactness and ease of use, which is probably a good choice. Extra features are always nice, but people often don’t use them. The minimalist approach was probably the best choice here, especially since there are already options on the market with too many buttons for people who want them.

Logitech MX Anywhere 3S: Battery Life

Logitech MX Anywhere 3S review

Logitech says that a full charge of the MX Anywhere 3S will last up to 70 days, and even though I haven’t used it for nearly that long, I believe it. Even after being used for two full days, the mouse was still 95% charged. The USB-C port for charging is on the front of the mouse. we found that you can use the mouse while it is charging, even though you can’t set up a wired connection.

Final Words

The MX Anywhere 3S from Logitech makes my life easier, which is a win in my book. I can move the mouse on any surface, use the smooth auto-shift scroll wheel, and start my workday with a Smart Action that only requires me to click a button instead of manually opening five different programs. It’s nice and small, and it might become my new go-to mouse for a while.
