Minisforum Venus UN1265 Mini PC: Design
The UN1265 is built in a standard box style, similar to other Minisform machines. Air is sucked in through side vents and pushed out above the I/O ports on the back. The outside is made entirely of plastic, and the silver color is something you will either like or dislike. The good things about it are that it doesn’t show dust as clearly as black does, but it also doesn’t look like metal either.
A reset hole, a 3.5mm audio jack, and two USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-A ports are on the front. The power button is also there. There is one DisplayPort 1.4 port, one HDMI 2.0 port, two USB 2.0 ports, and one USB 3.2 Type-C port on the back. This port allows Alt DP, DATA, and PD. It works great to connect the UN1265 to a USB hub or a third monitor through USB-C, but Thunderbolt or USB 4.0 would have been better.
Minisforum Venus UN1265 Mini PC: Features
To begin, the UN1265 Mini PC is very small, measuring 129.6 x 127.8 x 54.3 mm and holding 0.9 liters of space inside. Inside is the Intel Core i7-12650H Alder Lake chip. The 12th-generation Intel Core processor is very good. It has 6 Performance cores, 4 Efficiency cores, and can go as fast as 4.7 GHz. The built-in Intel UHD graphics with 64 processing units make using a computer even better. The UN1265 also supports one PCIe 4.0 M.2 2280 SSD and one 2.5-inch hard drive or SSD and up to 64GB of DDR4-3200 RAM.
The Minisforum UN1265 also has an M.2 2230 slot for a wifi card that works with both WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2. Also, I think it’s important to talk about the cold wave 1.5 active cooling system for a moment. It has a large fan and a single heat pipe cooling device. The UN1265 has a 2.5GBe Ethernet port and can connect to WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2 via an M.2 2230 wireless card. Besides that, the Venus Series UN1265 can connect to three 4K@60Hz displays via HDMI 2.0, USB Type-C, and DisplayPort1.4.

Minisforum Venus UN1265 Mini PC: Performance
Most of the time, this system is 50% or more faster than 11th-generation parts that have the UHD Graphics GPU. But the Core i7-12650H isn’t quite the core multiplier it should be with this many threads, so it’s not the best chip for multithreaded tests. That being said, CineBench23’s single thread performance is great. The only CPUs we’ve seen that are faster are 13th-generation ones like the Core i7-1360P. But the difference in scores between that number and using all ten cores is only 3.53.
It makes sense that it should still be between 5 and 6 if we don’t count the efficiency cores and the fact that the speed cores can hyperthread. That CPU has a ratio of 6.07 compared to the 11th Gen Core i9-11900H, which doesn’t have the P and E core type. It also has eight cores. For some reason, this chip works better as a quad-core CPU than a ten-core CPU in some multi-threaded jobs, like GeekBench.
The Iris Xe doesn’t make the most of the GPU because it uses DDR4 memory instead of DDR5, which is what many 13th-generation chips do. However, it works well enough for light graphics work and the occasional game. The NVMe drive’s read speed confirms that it is a Gen4 part. However, there are much faster drives than this one for people who can figure out how to get inside and swap out the chip. Even though the multithreading isn’t very good, the UN1265 is a sold machine that gives users a good experience.
