Monitors have become one of the most in-demand devices in the world as the global pandemic has led many people to work from home, prompting many of them to purchase a monitor as part of a new work-from-home setup or as an addition to an existing setup. One of the monitors Lenovo has released that is aimed at home workers or casual users is the Lenovo Q24i-1L, a 23.8-inch Full HD 1080p IPS monitor with a fairly unique stand.
The Lenovo Q24i-1L is obviously designed for those who want to beautify their desk with its near-edgeless design, which Lenovo calls NearEdgeless Bezels, and the striking metal stand. The Q24i-1L’s chassis is made of a textured black plastic. Two-thirds of the case is fairly thin and houses only the display, while the bottom third houses all components, ports, and the stand mount. The top and sides of the screen also barely have any edges, measuring just a few millimeters, while the thicker bottom bezel houses the buttons, LED display, and other internal components of the monitor.
While the main chassis of the Q24i-1L is fairly typical, its stand is what really sets it apart. The metal base, shaped like a ramp, is remarkably heavy, and the C-shaped neck is similarly sturdy. One end of the neck inserts into the right side of the stand, while the other end features a rotating metal plate in the same design as the monitor’s chassis. Like many other monitors in this category, the Q24i-1L can only be tilted up or down.
The design of the stand and neck not only reduces the Q24i-1L’s desktop footprint, but also gives a bit of an impression that the monitor is floating. The Q24i-1L has the usual variety of ports for a monitor in this price range, including an HDMI port, a VGA port, and a 3.5 mm port. It also uses Lenovo’s proprietary yellow power adapter connector, which is still found in several of the company’s devices. The Q24-1L is also equipped with five buttons under the right side of the bottom bezel for powering on and adjusting settings.
Setting up the Q24i-1L was fairly simple. The neck is secured into the stand with two screws that are tightened with a supplied Allen wrench. The way the plate on the neck connects to the main chassis is fairly intuitive, as the plate has a series of clips, two of which are metal and solid, while the other two are plastic and attached to a spring and locking mechanism that users can simply pull on when they want to remove the stand from the monitor. If you want, you can also attach the Q24i-1L to a VESA-compatible monitor arm or mount.
