The Logitech C922 Pro Stream is a real all-rounder, putting it at the top of our list of the best webcams. It’s not 4K like some others further down the list, but it remains competitive as the price is decent for what you get. Since it is a Logitech webcam, the build quality is top notch and the result is an excellent image. Yes, you get 1080p at 30 frames per second or 720p at 60 frames per second, but thanks to the lenses and processing, the image looks better than other webcams with similar specs on the market.
Thanks to features like light correction and autofocus, the video quality of this webcam is excellent, and the dual microphones provide a premium audio experience. And all of this comes with a light weight that allows for easy mounting, so the webcam can be used in almost any environment. It’s also worth remembering that with this webcam you get a one-year warranty for peace of mind.
So if you want to use a webcam for video streaming, video calling and video recording, this webcam does a great job and outperforms most other webcams and certainly most integrated computer offerings. It’s not quite as fancy as the more expensive Brio, but the C922 Pro still looks good in our eyes. It’s small enough not to be distracting, and the universal folding mount means it can be attached to almost any computer monitor or laptop lid. A 1.5-meter USB-A cable is hardwired to the back of the webcam.
Unlike the more expensive Logitech Brio, the C922 Pro comes with a tripod. This screws onto the webcam and is a great addition if you want to place the camera away from your monitor perhaps on a shelf or at a lower angle on your desk. The webcam itself has a glass front and is framed by two microphones for stereo sound. It measures 95 mm wide, 44 mm high, and 71 mm deep, including the monitor mount, which is not removable. The webcam weighs 162 g.
The two most important features are Full HD video resolution and smooth video playback at 60 frames per second. But you can’t have both at the same time. That’s because 60 frames per second is limited to 720p HD, and 1080p Full HD is only possible at 30 frames per second. Which of the two you choose will probably depend on what you’re using the Logitech C922 Pro for. Recording in Full HD provides a sharper image, while streaming at 720p still looks sharp for a video conference or live stream, but benefits from a smoother frame rate.
Although 720p has long been forgotten in the world of smartphone cameras and home theater, it’s still high-resolution and perfectly acceptable for video calls with the C922 Pro. Switching to 1080p does not double the picture quality for the caller, and how much of an improvement depends on the app used and the speed of the Internet connection. Other important features are the auto-focus and the automatic exposure and white balance correction.
