The Inspiron 15 3511 is the straight successor to the Inspiron 15 3501 from the previous year. It boasts a completely new chassis design that is both slimmer and lighter for enhanced portability. There are a few further surprises that help the Inspiron 15 3511 outperform many other models within its price range. Core i3-1115G4 to Core i7-1165G7 processors with UHD Graphics or Iris Xe, 4 GB to 12 GB of RAM, and 128 GB to 512 GB of PCIe NVMe storage are available.
A 1080p IPS display with optional touch functionality is standard. The chassis of the Dell Inspiron 15 laptop was constructed with a combination of aluminium alloy and plastic by Dell. Considering the price range of the laptop, you will not receive an all-metal chassis; yet, the laptop’s brushed metallic finish gives it an upscale appearance. The silver glossy sheen on the laptop’s lid, developed by Dell, makes it appear more costly than it actually is. On the centre of the lid, there is a silver Dell logo that blends well with the rest of the lid.
Due to the laptop’s strong hinges, two hands are required to open the lid. When you open it, though, you will notice that the screen is bordered by thin bezels. As you move towards the base, you will first see the power button, which is actually a fingerprint scanner. The fingerprint sensor is snappy and makes logging into Windows simpler than entering passwords. On the bottom of the laptop is the chiclet-style keyboard, which consists of backlit black keys.
In addition, the keyboard has a numeric keypad and directional arrow buttons. The keys are responsive with a sufficient travel distance and roughly 80g of actuation force. Additionally, the keys provide a pleasant tactile response when depressed, making typing effortless. The touchpad was uncomfortably positioned to the left of the keyboard, rather than in the centre, beneath the keyboard. Similar to the keyboard, the touchpad has a matte appearance and is composed of plastic.
In addition, the touchpad utilises Windows Precision Drivers, thus the laptop is compatible with gestures, swipes, and touches. However, a great deal of force is required to activate the touchpad’s clicking mechanism. Dell provides an outstanding selection of ports for laptops. On the right side of the device is a USB Type-A 2.0 port and an SD card reader. The Dell Inspiron 15 laptop includes a 3-cell, 42-watt-hour battery. This is not a particularly large battery, especially for a 15.6-inch laptop. Despite having only a 3-cell, 36Wh battery, the Lenovo IdeapS L340 15 lasted 6 hours and 25 minutes.
