The JBL Vibe 100TWS True Wireless are inexpensive earbuds. They have a fairly simple design, but offer a versatile sound profile that adds a touch of extra bass to mixes. They are also able to block out a fair amount of ambient noise, although they struggle to reduce the low rumble of bus and airplane engines. However, the five-hour continuous playback time is nothing exceptional, and they lack volume controls. On the other hand, the case can hold about three charges if needed.
The JBL Vibe 100 TWS have a simple, nondescript appearance. They are made of plastic and feature the manufacturer’s logo glossily printed on the outside of the earbuds. They are available in three color options: Black, Purple and Blue. These earphones have a fairly comfortable fit. They are small, lightweight and come with three pairs of different sized earbuds to help you find the best fit. However, they have a deep in-ear fit and the recording controls can push them further into your ear, which may not be very comfortable.
These headphones have below-average controls. There is a physical button on each earpiece that is easy to use. There are sounds when you pair the headphones and when you turn them on or off. However, there is no audio feedback for the other controls. Volume controls are also missing, which is a bit disappointing. On the other hand, all controls can be accessed when using one earpiece. The JBL Vibe 100TWS have exceptional breathability, as you would expect from in-ear headphones.
They do not cover the outer ear at all and allow airflow. You should not notice a temperature difference or sweat more than normal, even if you wear them during a run in the park. The JBL Vibe 100 TWS are very portable. Due to their small and lightweight, truly wireless design, they can easily fit into most pockets or bags without any problems. The carrying case is satisfactory. It is made of plastic, but has no cover to protect the earphones when not in use.
The earphones are held in place by magnets, but they can fall out if you shake the case or drop it on the ground. In compensation, there is a light in the center of the case that signals when the case or earbuds are charging. These earbuds have decent stability. Although they should stay in your ears while working at your desk, they may fall out during high-intensity activities such as a workout at the gym. If you like their design but want a more stable fit, check out the Wyze Buds Truly Wireless. The JBL Vibe 100TWS have a slightly bass-heavy sound profile, which adds a touch more power, body, and rumble to mixes.
That said, they are still neutral enough to suit a variety of audio content. However, they do not have an equalizer to adjust the sound. The passive soundstage of the JBL Vibe 100 TWS is as bad as can be expected from in-ear headphones. Due to their design, they completely exclude the outer ear, which must be activated by sound resonances to achieve an out-of-ear listening experience. As a result, the soundstage seems to come from inside the head and feels closed in.
