The SteelSeries Arena 3 is part of a line of computer audio peripherals that has long established a tradition of delivering great sound to users who are not too demanding when it comes to sound quality. In many ways, SteelSeries, and more specifically the Arctis family of gaming headsets, has helped to elevate not only the gaming headset scene but also way gamers experience sound in gaming. Here you can read SteelSeries Arena 3 review.
This means that the SteelSeries Arena 3 has a lot to live up to and huge shoes to fill, especially in the world where even the best PC speakers are no longer as exciting for gamers as PC gaming headsets. These two speaker systems relieve the Arena 3 of some of the load, serving the needs of PC users and gamers who just need a pair of reasonably priced PC speakers to meet their everyday listening demands. And as such, it’s a fantastic alternative with an adorable design, excellent soundstage, and great volume.
SteelSeries Arena 3 review: Design
We appreciate SteelSeries’ efforts to create an attractive and unique design. Shaped like an egg mounted on a stand, the SteelSeries Arena 3 speaker reminds us of a half-eaten egg in its shell at breakfast, but we don’t mind because we like eggs, and the speaker has an undeniable cuteness about it. Of course, there are smaller, more portable speakers, but those don’t take up much space either. At least not as much as a box of library speakers that some people use as computer speakers. Also, the height of the stand can be adjusted for stability.
The stand also allows the speakers to be tilted for easier listening. Above the 4″ driver of each speaker is a bass port, which is essentially a directional space designed to amplify a specific sound, usually a low frequency. Unfortunately, this does not help much in terms of sound quality.
The right speaker has a multi-function knob with volume wheel that serves as the speaker’s main control, including mute and input source switching. In addition, there are three audio ports on the back for wired PC, AUX, and wired headphones, allowing three different audio inputs to be connected at the same time. Additionally, the speaker also offers Bluetooth connectivity. In addition, a variety of customization options are available through Sonar, a new addition to SteelSeries’ GG software dedicated to audio devices.
SteelSeries Arena 3 review: Sound Quality
We would have happily continued to use my old speakers and wouldn’t have known how much better things could get if we hadn’t been given the opportunity to review the Arena 3 speakers. My personal experience with the Arena 3 speakers has been that they have made my tinnitus condition a bit less difficult while also enhancing the overall audio experience on my computer, though we are not a medical expert and you should not accept any advice from me in this regard. Look online to discover what people are saying about the SteelSeries Arena speakers if you’re looking for some new computer speakers that won’t break the budget.
SteelSeries Arena 3 review: Performance
For a small-sized pair of PC speakers, the SteelSeries Arena 3 speakers feature a powerful set of tubes and can fill a medium-sized room when their volume is fully turned up. And that’s without a lot of distortion. If you turn the volume up to the middle, it can fill a small room. There’s no sub bass here because, well… there’s no subwoofer. To make up for the missing true low end, the lower mids are quite prominent and amplified. It’s not a very effective solution, but it works for certain things. Maneskin’s “Mammamia” is also not as dynamic, but because it’s essentially a rock song, you don’t miss the bass that much. Rock is more musically focused on the mid frequencies and because these speakers have boosted the lower mid frequencies, the song sounds fuller. The rest of the midrange is quite balanced. However, the treble is rounded, so there’s not as much detail here or brightness, and the treble is turned down, so you lose a bit of presence as well.
Conclusion
Invite the most immersive gaming sounds into your room with standard 3.5 mm cables, connecting your computer, phone, tablet, TV or other audio devices. Easily adjust all important settings with a volume dial and a convenient, multifunctional button for mute, headphone and LED switching and Bluetooth pairing. Enhance your arena with Spatial Audio and tune almost every aspect of the sound with 10-band parametric EQ and more using Steelseries Sonar Software on the PC.
