Planet Earth

Rating: 4.7/5

For thousands of years, people have researched and pondered our planetary home. How did the earth originate? How old are you? How did it become a living world? Due to our extensive knowledge and the wonders of technology, we now know much more about the Earth than our ancestors did. We know that it is an evolving planet undergoing endless change, perhaps at a rate unprecedented in its recent or even distant past.

The History of Planet Earth provides a detailed but interesting description of many more aspects related to the creation of the Earth: the origin of the Earth in light of the Big Bang explosion, the arrival of water on the surface, the formation of the atmosphere. , the evolution of life forms from single-celled organisms to giants like dinosaurs, changes from the core to the crust… and the current state of worrying global changes, most of which are rooted in our greed and thoughtlessness. The book goes beyond time, into the future, to see what our future generations may have in store if we don’t care about this “home” of ours.

plant kingdom

Rating: 4.6/5

3D technology reveals a whole new dimension of plant life, from the strangest to the most beautiful. In this sensational series, filmed over the course of a year, David Attenborough explores his fascinating world. Using 3D time-lapse and innovative 3D macro photography techniques, he traces them from their beginnings on earth to their vital place in wildlife today, revealing new insights along the way.

It moves from our timescale to theirs, revealing the true nature of plants as creatures as dynamic and aggressive as animals. David discovers a microscopic world invisible to the naked eye, where insects feed and reproduce, where flowers glow, and where plants communicate with each other and with animals through smell and sound. He encounters extraordinary animals and fungi that have an unbreakable bond with the plant world, from hawk moths and bats to tiny poison dart frogs, a giant tortoise, and a fungus that can control minds.

The private life of plants

Rating: 4.3/5

As has often been said, David Attenborough is a national treasure. He apparently may hate the term, but it’s hard not to say that about a great presenter who contributed significantly to some of the best programs (documentary genre and in general) the BBC has ever broadcast/produced. As mentioned, it is very difficult to pick favorites from consistently good to masterful work from a national treasure with a long and distinguished career.

The Private Life of Plants manages to do the seemingly impossible (for me) by making plants interesting and making you not only appreciate them more, but care for them as well. When it comes to plant documentaries, ‘The Private Lives of Plants’ is innovative and one of the best, also one of Attenborough’s many gems. It has everything that makes his work so great, hence some of the iterations of my recent reviews of some of his work (I make nature documentaries in my spare time), and it deserves everything good that’s been said about it. .

the life of the birds

Rating: 4.2/5

Based on the spectacular 10-part PBS show, The Life of Birds is the best of David Attenborough, presenting the drama, beauty and eccentricities of the natural world with unusual flair and intelligence. Lavishly illustrated with over a hundred color photographs, the book will delight and inform bird watchers, as well as any general reader interested in nature.

The sequences are captured by cameras aboard the spaceships, allowing the series to tell the stories with depth never seen before.

The universe

Rating: 4/5

The Emmy Award-winning JOURNEY OF THE UNIVERSE tells an epic story of cosmic, terrestrial, and human transformation from the Big Bang to the present day. Evolutionary philosopher Brian Thomas Swimme and Yale religious historian Mary Evelyn Tucker have crafted an elegant story that highlights and celebrates both the profound role humans play in the flourishing of the earth and the important role humans play.

Hubble: 15 years of discovery

Rating: 3.8/5

This book is part of the European Space Agency’s activities to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the 1990 launch of the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope. The excellent quality images have given astronomers entirely new insights into the workings of a wide range of different astronomical objects. Hubble has provided an overview of the underlying astrophysical processes taking place in these objects, which range from the planets of our solar system to the galaxies of the early Universe.

Astronomy is fortunate in that telescopes produce results not only of great scientific value, but also of striking beauty and artistic potential. This book shows the close relationship between the two at its best. Hardcover, 30 x 25 cm (coffee table), printed in full color on high quality glossy paper. Published by Springer New York.
