Verdict

The Tronsmart Trip has a lot going for it. IPX7 weather protection, good looks, a captive lanyard and true wireless stereo compatibility.

As audio technology gets better, Tronsmart Trip keeps pushing the limits of what we think of as normal. Bluetooth speakers are now smaller, easier to carry, have better sound quality, and are even more durable. Brands have started to change things like the way they look and the materials they use. Imagine how happy I was to find out that Tronsmart’s latest attempt at making wireless speakers is a cheap one.

Tronsmart Trip: Description

It’s great to see companies try to compete on price as well as quality and size. Just like cheap Android phones are getting better and better by the minute, so are cheap accessories. The Tronsmart Trip isn’t like most of Tronsmart’s cheap Bluetooth speakers, which are just plain.

Even though I tried out the black version, it comes in a number of bright colour combinations. The small, modern, and simple look of the Bluetooth speaker goes well with the bright reds and blues. The cheap speaker is also very light and takes up a very small amount of space.

This rectangle Bluetooth accessory fits easily into your travel backpack. The fact that the speaker can handle rain and being dunked in pools of water also makes it great for the shower. No, I’m not ashamed to say that it also works great as a fake microphone for jam sessions in the bathtub.

Design and Features

Tronsmart Trip review

The Tronsmart Trip is basically a rectangle that bulges out about an eighth of an inch at the top and bottom. The curve is barely noticeable, but it gives the unit its own personality. The speaker is 6.7 x 3.2 x 1.9 inches (W x H x D), so it will fit nicely in your backpack. It weighs less than 12 ounces, so it won’t be much of a burden to carry with you.

A rating of IP X7 means that it can be submerged in up to 3.3 feet of water for 30 minutes, but the manufacturer doesn’t say that it’s safe from dust or dirt. So, it might be better at the pool than at the beach. This review is part of TechHive’s coverage of the best Bluetooth speakers, where you can also find reviews of what the competition has to offer and a buyer’s guide to the features you should look for when shopping for this type of product.

The power, Bluetooth/TWS pairing, volume down, play/pause, and volume up are all controlled by buttons that stick out from the top edge of the Trip. The bottom of the speaker has two feet made of rubber that don’t slide.

The status light, USB-C charging port, and 3.5mm auxiliary input are all hidden by a plug on the upper right side. On the left side, you’ll find a lanyard that is unusually thick and strong. The whole thing is covered in colored twill fabric, and the Tronsmart logo and buttons are made of raised lettering in a color that goes with the fabric.

Tronsmart must be proud of its colour schemes, because the company sent one Trip in each of the four available colours: reddish/pink, dark blue/light blue, gray/aqua, and charcoal black/gray. I like them all, so props to the person who chose the colours.

Tronsmart Trip: Connectivity

Tronsmart Trip review

Tronsmart uses high-end technology in all of its products. For example, the portable Tronsmart Trip outdoor speaker has both Quick Connect and Bluetooth 5.3 as ways to connect to other devices.

With the quick connect feature, switching between devices is simple. In an open space, the Bluetooth range is 18m. The speaker has features like a Type-C charging port, a 3mm headphone jack, and an LED light that shows what’s going on with the speaker.

Tronsmart Trip: Sound quality

The Trip speaker sounds surprisingly loud for how small it is. It’s not as good as a Bose soundbar or anything, but it’s good enough for something you can throw in your gym bag or purse.

The highs and mids are both great. When the volume is turned all the way up, they can sound a little bit distorted, but that’s a problem that most speakers have. Bass is also pretty good. The little Trip packs a powerful punch.

The Trip speaker also comes with Tronsmart’s True Wireless tech. This lets you connect two or more Tronsmart speakers that can do this to make studio-quality sound. This would be a nice way to listen to music outside on a patio or porch with two Trips.

Tronsmart Trip: Battery Life

Tronsmart Trip review

It has a great battery life. Tronsmart says that the Trip can play for 20 hours at 50% volume, and we have found this to be true. You and your friends can easily listen to music while on the go.

When you do need to charge it, having the most up-to-date standard, like USB-C, is always a plus. Fast charge is not available on the Tronsmart Trip, which is a shame. The USB-C is only set to output 5V, and it takes about three hours to fully charge the Trip speaker.

Price and availability

Tronsmart Trip review

In April 2022, the Tronsmart Trip came out all over the world. A few months later, it went on sale on popular sites like Amazon. You can buy this portable Bluetooth speaker for anywhere from $22 to $30 on the Tronsmart website or at other stores.

Depending on where you buy it, the Tronsmart Trip speaker comes in a mix of six different colours that are funky, plain, or have patterns. Red, black, grey, blue, orange, and camouflage are the main colours. Unfortunately, neither the orange nor the camo finishes have made it to any store shelves yet.

Final words

The Tronsmart Trip waterproof Bluetooth speaker is small but packs a powerful punch. I like how easy it is to use, and the loop lets you hang it from a clip, which is a nice touch. It stayed waterproof in the rain, and it’s small enough to fit in most packs or purses, so I’ll be keeping this little speaker in my disc golf bag for good.

FAQs

Is Tronsmart a good speaker?

The sound quality is very well-balanced, and you won’t have any problems even when the volume is at its highest level. Most people think the sound quality and volume are good enough for use outside. You also get SoundPulse, a technology made by Tronsmart that lets you connect up to 100 Trip speakers together.

Which is the No 1 speaker company?

Bose is a company that makes some of the best speakers in the world. It is based in Massachusetts. It’s not surprising that it’s one of the best Bluetooth speaker brands in India because their products have that reputation. The Bose SoundLink is a portable Bluetooth speaker that can stand up to water and dirt.
