In Wo Long Fallen Dynasty: How to Upgrade Weapons: Wo Long With frustrating bosses, combat that is difficult to master, and several different systems operating simultaneously, “Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty” is a truly challenging game. However, life in “Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty” becomes much simpler when you can upgrade your weapons and armor.

Unfortunately, however, you will not be able to upgrade your weapons and armor right from the start. Instead, once you have completed all of Part 2, you will be able to go to the game’s central location, the Hidden Village.

Here you will meet an NPC who will take care of all your upgrade needs for the time being. However, the upgrade menu in Wo Long can be a bit confusing: however, the upgrade menu in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is a bit confusing, so I will explain it here.

How to Upgrade Weapons in Wo Long Fallen Dynasty

In all three stages of the second part, players will need to locate Zhu Xia in the mission in order to make upgrades. Zhu Xia is not hidden, but may pass by if you are not looking for her. Once the Hidden Village is unlocked, Zhu Xia will remain in the same location but will have access to the full menu. Before moving to the blacksmith shop in the Hidden Village, Zhu Xia can be found in the following locations:

  • Two Chivalrous Blacksmiths Shu: is found in a rocky corridor just after the battle with the demon Suzaku. In this case, the player must interact with the kind blacksmith at least twice; after the second interaction, he will open his store.
  • Valley of the Wailing Wraiths: Vermilion can be found just before the first bridge crossing. Looking back from the second battle flag of the stage, you will see a blacksmith shop tucked away in a natural alcove.
  • The Demon Fortress of Hades: Directly above the starting point of the stage. In this case, Zhu cannot be missed, as there are several NPCs.

Where to Upgrade Weapons

Weapon upgrades can only be done at Zhu Xia, the lone blacksmith in the game. In the early game missions (Part 1 and Part 2), she will appear in the missions and help you at certain points. However, once you unlock the hub area “Hidden Village”, she will move there.

At some point, when you return to the Hidden Village, you can set up her own store down the path of tree branches to the right of where you spawned in the Hidden Village. Weapon upgrades are not available at Battle Flag.

Wo Long Fallen Dynasty: About

Wo Long’s first boss battle: rivals the toughest first boss battle in the game’s history. In this opening battle, you’ll clash with the yellow bandit Zhang Liang in a two-phase death struggle, an intense skill check that will immediately test your mastery of WoLong’s mechanics.

In many ways, it feels like a rite of passage into the rest of the game, a bold statement of intent from developer Team Ninja. At first, I loved being forced to adapt to the game’s unique “soul” style of combat, but as I progressed, this feeling disappeared as I realized that this early struggle was nothing more than an unbalanced outlier, a much tougher test than the bosses that followed.

For many, this sudden increase in difficulty will be a barrier to entry, halting progress just 10 minutes into the game; it is unfortunate that Wo Long begins with such a sturdy obstacle, not least because this first ordeal is not indicative of the rest of the game. In fact, outside of this first boss, Team Ninja has created something more accessible within the traditionally difficult genre of Souls-like.
