How to Use Google Docs Explore Tool on Pc
- Open a document in Google Chrome’s Docs.
- In the lower right corner of your screen, click the icon that looks like a map. The icon looks like a chat bubble with a black star inside it.
- Press Ctrl + Alt + Shift + I on your keyboard if you don’t see the icon.
- On the right, a panel shows up. Use the search bar to type in a keyword or choose a topic from the drop-down list.
- If you click on a search result under Web, it will open in a new tab.
- Scroll up and click See all results on Google to see more options. This opens a new tab with the Google home page. You’ll have to type in the keyword and search for it again.
- After opening a website, you can copy and paste what you need into your Docs document.
- To use the website as a source, click the icon with three dots and choose a format from the drop-down menu.
- To use a web result as a footnote, move your mouse over it and click the quotation mark.
How to Use Google Docs Explore Tool On smartphones and tablets
- Open a document in the Docs app.
- Tap the pen button to enter Editing mode.
- Tap the three-dots icon
- Select Explore.
- Use the search bar to enter a keyword or select variations under Topics
- Select a search result to view it in full.
- If you need to copy and paste information, long press a word on the web page to highlight it. Then drag the tiny circles down to your desired point.
- Tap Insert, and Docs instantly adds the highlighted text to your document.
- To use hyperlink citation, return to the web page and tap the link icon
- Tap Insert and Docs adds the hyperlinked text to your document.
