Xbox Series X vs PS5 2024: review, specs, features, pros and cons

The console war is between the Xbox Series X vs PS5. Even though the PS5 is the best next-gen console, old scores will be settled and new ones will be started this year because the PlayStation vs. Xbox debate is closer than ever. Sony recently said that PS5 shortages will get better in 2023, and the best upcoming PS5 games include games like Forspoken that are made just for PS5.

In response, Microsoft is releasing Starfield, which is one of the best upcoming Xbox Series X games and one of the biggest games in a decade. It will come out in the first half of 2023. Sales of the PS5 and the Xbox Series X show that they are very close. VGCgartz says that Microsoft’s console is about a million units behind PS5 overall, but that it will sell 36.4% more in 2022 than it did in 2021.  So, it’s easy to see that both consoles are about the same in 2023.

The PS5 or the Xbox Series X. Sony wants the PS5 to make a statement, while the Xbox Series X is designed to fit into any living room and be less noticeable. Both are quiet and cool to the touch, and they have enough ports to make life easier. The Xbox Series X wireless controller’s connection is hidden inside the console, while the PS5 uses a dongle that sticks out the front. This is a rare design mistake for Sony.

Price and availability

Both the Xbox Series X and the PlayStation 5 cost $500. At first glance, this category looks like a tie, since the two systems are very similar. But the standard PS5 and Xbox Series X aren’t the only kinds of consoles you can get. The PS5 Digital Edition costs $400, and the Xbox Series S costs $300 you can buy both the products directly from Xbox’s Official site.

The PS5 and the PS5 Digital Edition are the same except that the PS5 has a physical drive for 4K Blu-ray discs. As the name suggests, the second one doesn’t have a disc drive. On the other hand, the Xbox Series S has hardware that is very different from the Xbox Series X. It has a GPU that isn’t as powerful, an SSD that isn’t as big, less RAM.

Xbox Series X vs PS5 Design

Xbox Series X vs PS5

The Series X Xbox looks like a tall PC tower. It’s a lot bigger than the Xbox One X and Xbox One S, but the power button and disc drive are still on the front. The top of the system caves in a little bit and is made up of nothing but holes to let more air in. It can also be put on its side to fit better in entertainment centers.

As for the PS5, it has a strange look, with curves on each side and a mix of black and white colors. A lot of the advertising shows the system standing up vertically, but you can also lay it on its side. The system doesn’t look very much like the PS4 or any of the other PlayStation systems. There is also a version without discs that is a little bit smaller and cheaper, but is mostly the same as the version with discs.

You can switch out the white side panels for ones in blue, purple, black, red, and pink, among other colours. Faceplates, on the other hand, cost $55, which is almost as much as a new game.

Xbox Series X vs PS5 Controllers

Xbox Series X vs PS5

Both consoles have cool new controllers, but the PS5’s new DualSense is by far the most important and, in the end, the better of the two. Even though most people probably won’t notice or even feel the difference, the new Xbox controller is a little bit smaller than its predecessor. This should make it easier for younger and smaller gamers.

The texture on the bottom is also more noticeable, and this mottled look has spread to the two trigger buttons, which are now matte instead of shiny and have less pronounced peaks. The new controller is easier to hold and has better ergonomics, which can only be a good thing.

A new Share button, “inspired” by the DualShock 4 on the PS4, is on the front of the controller. Tap the button to take a screenshot right away, or hold it down for a few seconds to save the last 29 seconds of game play. The d-pad has been changed to look more like the one on the Elite Controller Series 2. This makes it more useful for games that need sweeping actions, like combo-tastic fighting games, without sacrificing too much of the usefulness of pressing up, down, left, or right.

The controller also has something called “Dynamic Latency Input” (DLI) from Xbox. This is supposed to make each controller input match up right away with what you see on screen. Your TV’s lag will also play a role here, but speeding up the process at any point can only be a good thing. It’s clear that the console responds quickly to commands, but it’s hard to tell how much of that is due to DLI and how much is due to the console’s improved performance in other areas.

The Series X controller is better than the one that came before it, which was already great, but not by a huge amount. We wouldn’t tell you to go out and buy new controllers right away, and you don’t have to. Xbox One controllers work just fine with the Series X.

Xbox Series X vs PS5 Games

Halo Infinite is now out for the Xbox Series X, but it was delayed for a long time. It was supposed to be a launch title for the new console, but it didn’t come out until December 2021. We liked how interesting the story was and how free the game was to play. The company that made Halo, 343 Industries, has made a campaign that will appeal to longtime fans and inspire a new generation of players.

At the start, the Xbox Series X came with Dirt 5, Yakuza: Like a Dragon, and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, which was set in Viking times. We can look forward to more games in the future, like Redfall and Starfield, among many others. Here is the list of Xbox Series X games that have been confirmed so far.

Microsoft later bought ZeniMax Media, the company that owns Bethesda, and said it had similar plans for Activision Blizzard. This means that games like The Elder Scrolls 6 will probably only be available on Xbox, and that many games from ZeniMax and Activision Blizzard studios, like Doom Eternal, will be added to Xbox Game Pass soon.

Backward compatibility means that the Xbox Series X can be used with all other Xbox platforms. This may be just as important as getting new games. There’s a good chance that games for the original Xbox, Xbox 360, and Xbox One will work on Xbox Series X. This is especially true for your Xbox One library.

Xbox Series X vs PS5 Storage and memory

Xbox Series X vs PS5

With both consoles, SSD is the way to go. Each uses a solid-state drive for storage to speed up the time it takes to load. The Xbox Series X has a 1TB internal SSD, of which the user can use about 800GB after installing system software and other things. It can read at up to 2.4GB/s (or 4.8GB/s if it’s not compressed).

The PS5 has less space to store things. It has an SSD with 825GB, but the user can only use up to 700GB of that. But it runs faster, up to 5.5GB/s.

Both have expansion cards that can be used to add more storage. For Xbox, you can buy an official 1TB Storage Expansion Card that fits into a port on the back. The Sony system can be improved with third-party PCIe Gen4 SSD cards, which are now much cheaper than the Xbox’s single option.
