How to Change iPhone Vibration

This article shows you how to Change iPhone Vibration step by step.

Your iPhone can do more than just make sounds to get your attention. It can also vibrate. You can also change the way your iPhone vibrates to get silent alerts, just like you can change the ringtone and alert tone. This article shows you how to Change iPhone Vibration step by step.

Even though it can be helpful to hear your iPhone ring when you get a new text or email, it can also be annoying when it makes loud noises. In these situations, vibrations are helpful because they still let you know when you have a message, but they do not bother people around you.

Vibrations give you haptic feedback, so you can feel your notifications instead of hearing them. This feature can be helpful when your phone’s volume is turned up, since you might feel it vibrating in your pocket even if the speaker is muted. You can also change how long your iPhone vibrates and set each default app to vibrate in a different way.

How to Change iPhone Vibration

Change iPhone Vibration

How to change vibration settings on your iPhone

  • Open the app for Settings.
  • Touch “Sounds and Touch.”
  • To make your iPhone vibrate, make sure that either “Vibrate on Ring” or “Vibrate on Silent” is turned on, or both. When vibration is turned on, the bars will be green, so you will know.
  • Set the vibration tone for each iPhone notification (like ringtone, textone, or new voicemail) by tapping on the appropriate option under “Sounds and Vibration Patterns.”
  • Tap “Vibration” to change how that particular notification makes your phone vibrate.
  • You can choose a Vibration pattern that has already been set by tapping on it. When you tap on a choice, your phone’s vibration mode will start, so you can feel what it will be like.

Keep in mind that you do not have to save your changes. Just close the Settings app, and the change will take effect.

To create a new custom vibration pattern:

  • Follow steps one through five above, but tap “Create New Vibration” instead of a pre-set vibration mode.
  • On the “New Vibration” screen, you can make a vibration pattern that fits your needs. Touch the screen to make it vibrate, and take your finger off the screen to make it stop.
  • When you are done recording, press the “Stop” button in the lower right corner of your screen.
  • Click “Play” in the bottom left corner of your screen to see a preview of the vibration pattern you just made. If you like what you see, click “Save.” If not, you can try again by pressing “Record” and giving it another shot.

Use custom vibrations on iPhone

Once you have made your vibration pattern, you can use it in any setting that lets you choose a vibration. Among these are the following:

  • Default iPhone ringtone: Go to Settings > Sounds & Haptics > Ringtone > Vibration and choose the custom vibration pattern. You can also set custom vibrations for the following options using the same basic steps:
  1. Default iPhone text tone
  2. New Voicemail
  3. New Mail
  4. Sent Mail
  5. Calendar Alerts
  6. Reminder Alerts
  • You can give different ringtones and text tones to different people, and you can do the same thing with vibrations. To do this, open the Contacts app, select the contact, go to Edit > Ringtone or Text Tone > Vibration, and choose the custom vibration pattern for that contact. Now, turn around and tap Done.
  • Alarm vibration: You can change the way your iPhone alarm sounds. To do this, open the Clock app, tap Alarm, tap Edit, tap an alarm, tap Sound, tap Vibration, and then tap the vibration you made above.

Now, you have not only made your own custom vibration pattern, but you have also given it to a contact. You can make and send as many custom vibrations as you want to as many contacts as you want. It is a great way to find out who is really calling you even when your iPhone is in your pocket and you do not want to take it out to check.

Delete custom vibration patterns

You can easily get rid of the vibration pattern you set up above if you no longer need it or if you think the ones Apple gives you are good enough. To get rid of a vibration pattern, you need to do the following:

  • Go to Sounds & Haptics > Ringtone > Vibration in the iPhone’s Settings.
  • Swipe to the left of the custom vibration you made and press the Delete button. You can also click Edit in the upper right corner, then click the red minus button, and then click Delete to get rid of it.
  • Lastly, you can make custom vibrations and delete them from within apps. Go to the Clock app > Alarm > Edit > Choose an Alarm > Sound > Vibration, for example. From here, you can make a new vibration or get rid of one that has already been made.

Custom vibrations and why they’re useful

iOS has a great feature that lets you make your own vibrations. This is great because you can give your friends one vibration, your coworkers another, and your family a third. This makes it even easier to tell who is calling you without even taking your iPhone out of your pocket.

You can give each person their own vibration, or you can give one group of people one vibration and another group a different vibration.

For messages you think are more important, you might want to make a strong vibration that you are sure to feel. For messages you think are less important, you might want to make a slightly calmer vibration that you can feel but that might not catch your attention until later.

Are there different vibrations on iPhone?

By default, your iPhone will vibrate twice quickly when you get a text message and continuously when you get a call. All of the other alerts from the Notification Center only cause a single vibration.

Can I change the vibration pattern for different apps?

Tap any app to see a list of all the apps you have on your phone right now. Tap each app on this list that you want to set up a custom vibration pattern for, and then press the Pick Apps button at the bottom. Press “contains anything” to see a list of all the options for the custom notification.

Where is the vibration setting on iPhone?

Go to Settings > Sounds and Haptics or Settings > Sounds. Under Sounds and Haptic Patterns or Sounds and Vibration Patterns, choose an option like Ringtone or New Mail. Tap Vibration, and then tap Create New Vibration.
