How to Factory Reset Steam Deck

  1. Press the power button on top of your Steam Deck to turn it on.

  4. Valve recommends Balena Etcher if you have a Mac or Linux.
  5. Follow the instructions on the screen to choose the SteamOS recovery file and put it on the USB drive.
  6. When the job is done, take the drive out of your computer.
  7. Attach a USB hub to your Steam Deck.
  8. Plug in the recovery drive that you just made.
  9. Turn off everything on your Steam Deck.
  10. Keep pressing the Volume Down button.
  11. Press the Power button and let go of it.
  12. Let go of the Volume Down button when you hear a tone.
  13. Choose the EFI USB Device from the Boot Manager.
  14. Wait until the Desktop environment comes up.
