Find serial number in Settings

  • If you turn on your iPhone or iPad, you can find the serial number in the Settings app.
  • From the Home screen, open the Settings app and then tap General > About.
  • The serial number is on the “About” page. Just write it down, and that’s it.

View serial number in your Apple ID

  • Open Any web browser and go to Apple ID site and sign in with the Apple ID which is linked to your iPhone/iPad.
  • On the Apple ID page, scroll down to the section called “Devices.” When you click on the device you want to check, a window will pop up with your serial number.

Find serial number on your device package

If you can’t find your iPhone or iPad, look for the box it came in. Find its barcode by looking at its sides. The serial number is written on the barcode.

Use the Watch app

  • Open the Watch app on your paired iPhone.
  • Go to My Watch > General > About.

In Apple Watch Settings

  • This is also a quick way to get your Mac serial number if you know how to use the Terminal. To use this method, either open Terminal from the Applications folder or search for Terminal in Spotlight.
  • Next, type “system profiler SPHardwareDataType | grep Serial” and press the Enter key. On the next line, you should see your serial number.

  • Type the following command to export the serial information to a text file, and then press: wmic bios get SerialNumber > PATH\TO\EXPORTIn the command, make sure to replace “PATH\TO\EXPORT” with the path to the text file you want to export the serial number information.For example, this command exports the output to the ComputerSerial.txt file in the C drive:wmic bios get SerialNumber > C:\ComputerSerial.txt
  • After you finish the steps, the command will give you the serial number without you having to go into the BIOS or look on the back of the device.

Via PowerShell

  • Open Start.
  • Search for PowerShell, right-click the first result, and choose Run as administrator from the menu that appears.
  • Type the following command and press Enter to find the computer’s serial number:
  • Get-WmiObject win32 bios | choose Serialnumber
  • Check the information about the SerialNumber.
  • Type the following command and press Enter to find out the serial number of a device:
Get-CIMInstance win32_bios | format-list SerialNumber
  • Confirm the SerialNumber information.
  • Type the following command to export the serial information to a text file and press Enter:
Get-WmiObject win32_bios | select Serialnumber > PATH\TO\EXPORTIn the command, make sure to replace "PATH\TO\EXPORT" with the path to the text file you want to export the serial number information.
  • When you’re done, you’ll know the serial number of your desktop or laptop computer.

Physically Find the Serial Number

If your laptop won’t start up or you don’t feel comfortable entering commands, turn it over and look for S/N or Serial Number followed by a string of letters and numbers on the label. It could also be on the box that your laptop came in.

Other Places to Look

If you registered your laptop with the company that made it, your serial number should be on the registration paperwork, the receipt for warranty service, or the confirmation email. You might also be able to find it on the receipt.

How to Find Serial Number On Chromebook

For Current Chrome OS Versions

  • Power on the chromebook and wait until you see the Chrome OS Sign-in Screen.
  • Press ALT + V on the keyboard.
  • The serial number as well as the current Chrome OS version will appear in the upper right-hand corner of the screen.

For Older Chromebook Models

  • Keep these keys down on the keyboard: Ctrl + Shift + P =
  • On the recovery screen with the yellow exclamation mark, press Ctrl+D.
  • Press Enter on the screen that says “To turn OS verification off, press enter. “…be able to…”
  • Let the system take over on the next screen, which has a red exclamation mark. Do Not Hit Spacebar
  • “The device owner has turned off developer mode for this device,” it says on the screen. let the computer restart itself.
  • When you see the screen that says “Choose Your Language and Network,” press ALT + V. The serial number will show up in the upper right corner of the screen.

Other Methods

  • Check the sticker label on the bottom of the Chromebook.
  • Check the sticker label on the warranty card. The serial number is listed after the word “Serial Number,” “SSN”, “S/N”, or “SN”.
  • Check the sticker label on the side of the packaging. The serial number is listed after the word “Serial Number”, “SSN”, “S/N”, or “SN.”
