Check How to block unwanted emails and spam on your iPhone with the Mail app

Having an inbox full of unknown and unwanted spam emails is frustrating, not to mention time-consuming to delete! The good news is that Apple offers several ways to prevent people from sending all this junk to your email inbox. And starting with iOS 13 and iPadOS, we have even more ways to block specific email senders. The way we communicate today is changing drastically with the arrival of new technologies. The iPad and iPhone are great communication tools, allowing you to communicate via email, messages, Facetime, and even the occasional call through VOIP apps other than Skype, Whatsapp, and others.

However, the price we pay for all these different communication channels is that we receive even more spam messages than unwanted communications. With iOS 13+ and iPadOS, you can now ignore your blocked senders using two features (Blocked and Blocked Senders options) in Settings > Mail. Choose what you want to do with emails from a blocked sender. You can choose None, Mark as Blocked, Leave in Inbox, or Move to Trash. There is no easy way to block specific email addresses on your iPhone, iPod or iPad running iOS12 and earlier. But by marking spam emails as junk in email rules, you can train your iDevice to move them to the junk folder automatically.

How to block emails in the Mail app on iPhone

  • Open the Mail app and locate an email from the sender you want to block.
  • Touch the sender’s image and then their name in the From field.
  • Tap Block this contact and tap it again in the confirmation window that appears.

Blocking your contact will prevent alerts from appearing when they send you a new email, but the emails will still come through. To avoid this and automatically move them to the trash, do the following:

  • Open your iPhone’s Settings app.
  • Scroll down until you see the Mail app option and tap on it.
  • Tap on Blocked Sender Options.
  • Select Move to Trash.
