How to Remove Hyperlinks in MS Excel Sheet: A Complete Guide

Are you tired of dealing with hyperlinks in your Excel spreadsheets? We get it. While hyperlinks can be useful, they can also be distracting and unnecessary. In this guide, we’ll show you different methods to remove hyperlinks from your Excel sheets, making your data more organized and easier to work with.

If you’re using a newer version of Excel, removing hyperlinks is a breeze. Simply right-click on the cell containing the hyperlink and select the “Remove Hyperlink” option from the context menu. This will convert the hyperlink into plain text.

To remove multiple hyperlinks at once, hold down the Ctrl key and select the cells. Then, right-click and choose the “Remove Hyperlink” option. You can also press Ctrl + A to select all cells in the worksheet and remove all hyperlinks in one go.

If you’re using an older version of Excel that doesn’t have the “Remove Hyperlink” option, don’t worry. There’s another method you can use. Copy the content of the cell containing the hyperlink, select the cell where you want to remove the hyperlink, and choose “Paste Special” from the context menu. In the “Paste Special” window, select “Multiply” and click OK. This will remove the hyperlink.

Paste URLs as plain text

If you need to paste multiple URLs into your worksheet without the hyperlink formatting, you can use the “Keep Text Only” option. Simply copy the URL, right-click on the target cell, and select the “Keep Text Only” option from the Paste Options. Alternatively, you can click the arrow on the Paste button on the Excel toolbar and choose “Keep text only.”

If you frequently work with hyperlinks in Excel and want a more automated solution, you can set up a macro to remove hyperlinks. Macros are recorded sequences of actions that can be replayed with a single click. You can either record a macro or write your own code using Visual Basic.

If you’d like to prevent Excel from automatically converting URLs to hyperlinks, you can disable this feature. In the Excel Options menu, go to Proofing and click on “AutoCorrect Options.” In the “AutoFormat As You Type” tab, deselect the “Internet and network paths with hyperlinks” option. From now on, URLs entered in your cells will remain plain text.

By following these methods, you can easily remove hyperlinks from your Excel sheets and customize your data according to your needs. Say goodbye to unnecessary distractions and enjoy a clean and organized spreadsheet!
