How to Use SharePlay in Messages with iOS 16

In this article, we will show you How to Use SharePlay in Messages with iOS 16. When you’re in a FaceTime call, you can use SharePlay to bring music into your call for a shared listening experience, watch movies and TV shows in sync with your friends while having real-time conversations and sharing your screen. It arrived with iOS 15.1 and also works with third-party apps like TikTok, allowing you to integrate all sorts of content into your FaceTime calls.

Apple introduced SharePlay on iPad/iPhone with iOS 15 and it quickly became a hit with users. It allows you to stream audio or video content in sync with other people in a FaceTime call. It also adds shared controls to the mix to make it a more collaborative digital experience. But while the feature was hugely popular, many users wished they could have the shared experience without having to access a FaceTime call. iOS 16 grants that wish and brings SharePlay to iMessage.

You can now iMessage the SharePlay link for supported media, which when clicked initiates the SharePlay or allows the other participant to join if playback has already started. This won’t start a FaceTime call and you can chat via iMessage while streaming the media. Previously, SharePlay could only be launched after you were already in FaceTime audio call on iPhone/iPad and Mac. This feature is introduced by Apple only on iOS 16 which is under beta testing process, iOS 16 public beta and iOS 16 developer beta is launched by Apple to improve and provide the seamless experience to it’s users.
