What is Notes app

The iPhone’s Notes app is often not used enough. It’s a free product that Apple made and that you can get on your iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Thanks to iCloud, you can work on notes on all of your Apple devices without any trouble. Notes is a simple app on your iPhone that you can use to make lists, write down ideas, and write down anything else you’d normally write on a sticky note or cocktail napkin.

Notes you make are stored on your iPhone and can be synced with your computer and other iOS devices through iCloud, Gmail, or another IMAP account, through Microsoft Exchange 2010 or later. Apple doesn’t do much to protect the information you store in the Notes app on your iPhone. When your iPhone is locked, Notes is locked like any other app.

You’ll need to use the same security check you use to unlock your device to get into Notes. This could be done with Face ID on newer iPhones, Touch ID on older models, or a simple passcode that you type in when asked. Apple’s default security only gives your notes the most basic protection. But there are more steps you can (and should) take to make sure your sensitive information is as safe as possible.

Format Notes on an iPhone

  • Tap the word you want to change twice.
  • If you want to change the format of more than one word, drag the yellow dots on either side of the word or words you want to change.
  • Tap the Format button (its icon looks like an Aa) to see different ways to format text. This button is right above the keyboard you see on your screen.
  • Choose the style of formatting you want.

Create a Checklist With the Notes App

  • Click on the Checklist button (the list icon located next to Aa).
  • Type your first item next to the empty bullet point that showed up.
  • Press the Return key on your on-screen keyboard to move to the next line and add more items.
  • Tap the empty bullet when you’re done with an item. A check mark will be shown.

Scan Documents Into the iPhone’s Notes App

  • Tap the camera icon next to “Checklist,” then tap “Scan Documents.”
  • Put your paper in front of the camera on your iPhone.
  • The document scanner is set to Auto mode by default. By tapping on the feature in the top right corner, you can change the mode to Manual.
  • Tap the Shutter button to take a picture of the scan.
  • To change the image, drag the corners. Once you’re happy with the scan, tap “Keep Scan,” then tap “Done,” and finally tap “Save” to add it to your note.
