Stop Someone From Deleting/Adding Printers on Windows

In this article, we will talk about How to Stop Someone From Deleting/Adding Printers on Windows. Let’s say you work in a company where you don’t want users to install or uninstall the printer from their system, and you want them to contact IT to complete the task in their task list. As in small businesses, the customer does not want unauthorized people to access the corporate printers, so this can be accomplished using a group policy implemented throughout the network.

In this case, we will use Windows Server 2012 R2 as an example, so let’s start the process. First, log in to your Windows server using your administrator credentials and open the Server Manager, as shown in the figure below. The printer settings in Windows 10 can be found in both the Settings app and the Control Panel. The settings can be used to configure the existing printers or add a new printer to Windows 11 to the list. Users can also remove the printer device from the list if they no longer use it.

However, an administrator can prevent standard users from removing printers from the list. He simply disables the “Remove device” button in the settings. The local Group Policy Editor is only available in Windows 10 Enterprise, Pro and Education editions. Therefore, we have also included the registry editor method for Windows 10 Home users. Both methods configure the same setting. Below, we have mentioned How to Stop Someone From Adding and Deleting Printers on Windows.

Step 3:- Now close the registry editor and restart your computer. If you no longer want to prevent users from deleting printers, just change the No Delete Printer value to 0 and you are done.

Step 1:- Press the Windows key + R to launch the Run dialog box, type in gpedit.msc and press Enter. This will open the Local Group Policy Editor.

Step 2:- Navigate to User Configuration –> Administrative Templates –> Control Panel –> Printers, and then double-click “Prevent deletion of printers” from the right pane.
