How to Fix Windows Terminal Not Opening Issue

Can you Fix Windows Terminal Not Opening Issue? The Windows Terminal from Microsoft is a command-line tool that comes with Windows 11. It makes it easy to use the Command Prompt, PowerShell, Azure Cloud Shell, and SubSystem for Linux all from the same window. You might get an error message that says “Windows cannot find wt.exe,” and the window won’t open at all. Microsoft’s Windows Terminal is a host program for command-line tools like Command Prompt and PowerShell.

The Terminal app could stop working for some users, just like any other app. Even though nobody knows for sure what went wrong, most people think that corrupted files and system problems are to blame. There may be some system problems or corrupted files that are hurting your computer that are the main cause of this problem.

We don’t know why this is happening. It could be because your computer had problems that you didn’t cause or because it just happened by chance. This has an effect on the computer because it stops it from working right and sometimes even makes it act like other computers. In this case, you can fix and reset the Windows Terminal, reinstall it, and run an SFC and DISM check.

Why is the Windows Terminal not working?

  • System files that don’t work right: Every service and tool that runs on a computer needs system files to work right. So, if the system files are broken or missing, the Windows Terminal might not work.
  • Malware and virus attacks: If you have a virus or malware attack on your computer, it can infect and block the connection between Windows Terminal and the system, causing the problem.
  • Problems with the installation files for Windows Terminal: The problem can happen if the system can’t read or run Windows Terminal from its installation directory, which makes it unavailable.
  • Windows Terminal has been turned off: Even if Windows Terminal is on the PC, it won’t work because the app has been turned off in Settings.
