Blink Outdoor Wireless Full HD Floodlight with Mount and Camera only in $69.98 at Best Buy

When we originally reviewed the Blink outdoor security camera, it received high marks for its excellent video quality, ease of use, and broad support for third-party integration. And now you can turn it into a smart floodlight camera with the battery-powered Floodlight Mount accessory. The mount casts a moderate light on your property when the camera detects motion, but also on demand via an Alexa command or the accompanying app.

The Floodlight Mount is available in white or black and measures 5.5 x 10.3 x 3.8 inches (HWD). It contains two 3 x 3 x 1-inch adjustable LED panels that provide a total brightness of 700 lumens with a color temperature of 5,000K. That’s not nearly as bright as competing models like the Wyze Cam Floodlight (2,600 lumens) or the Arlo Pro 3 Floodlight Camera (3,000 lumens).

The light’s IP65 weatherproof rating is the same as the Blink Outdoor Camera. It runs on four D-cell batteries (included), which should last up to two years depending on usage. Between the two LED panels is an inch-long mounting arm and a data cable that connects the light to the camera via its micro-USB port.

In addition to the aforementioned batteries, the Floodlight Mount comes with a mounting plate, mounting screws, and a user manual. The Floodlight Mount works with Alexa voice commands and routines, but not with Google Assistant or Apple HomeKit. For comparison, the Arlo model mentioned above supports all three platforms.

This mount uses the same Blink mobile app (available for Android and iOS) as any other Blink device. The controls for it are a subset of those for the Blink outdoor camera. There’s not much here, but at least you can turn it on and off remotely. Tap the overflow menu in the upper right corner to enable motion triggering, adjust brightness, and enable daylight mode.

For the latter mode, you can use a slider to specify how much light is required for motion to trigger the camera: set the slider to 1 if you want the light to turn on only when it’s dark, or to 10 for it to work during the day.
